Sixties show

Just had to mention what a great night we had last night. Those 60s legends provided us "oldies" with some terrific entertainment at the Winter Gardens.

3 hours of great entertainment & reminiscing.

Mike Pender (Searchers) (Good)

Vanity Fair (Very good & supported every singer throughout the entire evening)

Brian Poole (Tremeloes)(Good)

Chris Farlowe (looking old now but what a voice still - Brilliant)

&

The best of the lot.. PJ Proby. (Out of this world.. Superb, absolutely superb)

Wow! his voice is better than ever & was *star* of the show.

I'm telling you he could well have been Elvis in disguise. Looks just like how we could imagine Elvis would look these days I reckon & funnily enough he ended singing "American Trilogy". Eerie!.

A super show & oh how those memories came flooding back.

You youngsters.. you missed out on some great years there,music-wise. !!

Funny, Brian Poole said that when he was offered this show "Golden Sixties" show he didn't realise the only stipulation was that all had to be 60 or over to be a part of it. laugh

I went to Radio 1's big weekend yesterday.

Fair to say that Pendulum and Gallows stole the show in my opinion, that was on the 2nd stage.

The Pigeon Detectives and The Enemy took the roof off the main stage, not to mention stunning perfomances from Nelly and The Kooks.

I must have sweated half my body weight and my body is aching like hell, but it was well worth it.

I went to the radio 1 gig on saturday!

Thought it was amazing! The atmosphere was great, most of the music was great aswell.

Watched mainly: the feeling, scouting for girls, some of Madonna. Others i watched limited off. Unless you count weird bands that i had never heard of that my brother wanted to watch!! Which were very badly supported seeing as there was 15,000 people there!

Throughly enjoyed myself, and so did my brother (anyone that knows us will know that we are completely different) and the day appealed to varied ages and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Shame the food was very same old same old! Burgers, pizzas and noodles!

Well said Cookie, absolutely great years. I am pretty sure that you will have seen a guitarist in Vanity Fayre who used to be with Erkey Grant and the Tonettes in the old 1960's Dreamland days there as well. Still playing great.

If you want to see some more 60's oldies have a look here!
