More realistically, 10 or more years ago the Fleet supporters used to play a directors' XI.

A couple of years ago, Accrington's supporters' team played the actual team and lost about 11-1. It is an idea, although it's fair to say the supporter's team would get killed (and I play for them so I'm talking from experience ). Something whereby the teams were mixed up could make for a more realistic match and a funner one- Just think of it, me and McPhee dominating the midfield!

That would seem far more reasonable. Obviously playing the first team just isn't worth the risk of injury. All it takes is one bad tackle...

Though the thing is the youth team could probably still thrash the supporters

A pre season friendly against Fulham would be my idea of the perfect game, bringing back two of the greatest players ever to have graced our club. Of course I mean the brilliant internationally acclaimed manager and one time fleet player Roy Hogdson1969-71 and midfielder Jimmy Bullard 1998-99

If the first team were to play the supporters team in a friendly, do you honestly think it would be against such weak opposition? no offence lads. They have to try harder in training i would suggest, the only thing they may get out of it is a knock or two, or a bad injury.

Why not try ex fleet players like Jakko, Skinner etc ? in a charity game.

sorry Hawkeye, but saying Roy Hodgson was one of the greatest players ever to wear a G&N shirt? did you ever see him play? all due respects to him as a man and a manager but he was bloody awful as a player.

I remember Hodgson well......As was stated in last nights play- off semi final by the commentator: Bristol Cities manager is out there kicking every ball........Hodgson is out there kicking every player!
