Overheard on Friday night...

My dad, whilst standing in the crowd during the game on Friday night up at Hartsdown Park, overheard something interesting...

 

He heard Mark Weatherley telling someone (who my dad did not recognise) that he has been told by 'higher powers' that the reserves of last season will have to provide eight of the first team squad for next season. Obviously, it has already been stated that the budget will be reduced and the emphasis will be on local talent but, all the same, eight seems to be a big ask.

There was I was expecting the entire 1st team squad to be made up with reserves this season. Only 8 eh!

So at the beginning of the season just gone we had

 

Paul Axon

Matt Bowles

Nick Bagley

Kieran Morris

Danny Van Hindsberg

Louis Smith

 

In the first team squad so 8 is not that many more.

Possibly add Nick Moir to that list,although i think he was signed as a 'developing player'.

 

from the little i have seen-if correct-all is not lost anyway as it seems the reserves of last season are stronger than the reserves of 2007.
