Well, I am a regular, and I thought it the wave was in sprit of the game and the cup-tie. I think at the end of the day the main idea was to make it a joy-ace occasion, as we have never been to Wembley (with or with out the fleet), so we made the best of the occasion

It wouldn't have been funny or clever had Torquay equalised during a wave! The booing simply added to it being unthoughtful and inappropriate.

I thought that it was poor form that so many Torquay fans had left the stadium before their team had received their medals. Presumably this was Devon's own daytrippers rather than the Gulls usual fans?

According to a couple of posts on the Torquay forum, those who wanted to hang around watching us enjoy our moment were told by the stewards "We're closing - off you go" or words to that effect.

I must admit I joined some of the mexican waves as my kids were there, but sometimes the ball was hovering near our box and I was too concerned watching to get up at those times.

What's worse, according to the Torquay forum, there were plenty of red shirts making a swift exit for the Tube before we'd got the trophy.

Even if you're a daytripper, I fail to see the point of leaving before seeing 'your' team lift the trophy unless you have a pressing reason to leave.

Worse still though where the guys who left for the bar with 38 minutes played in the first half, I couldn't believe the numbers streaming out, I dare say they enjoyed their beer but was it really worth missing the penalty and the goal for?

A once in a lifetime opportunity to watch the boys at Wembley and people are more worried at having to queue for their pint than support their team.

Or the guy I sat next to , whom I recogonised as local regular supporter, with his family and freinds. Left for the bar at 40 minutes (missed the penalty and goal) got back after 60 minutes absolutely sh*tfaced barely able to stand, effing and c**ting every other word thereafter. His daughter/in-law? looked mortified.

I'm just glad he won't remember much about the game.

Inside 20mins? The lightweight!

I found the adrenaline rush (not to mention the two-hour kickabout I had in the park) to be an antidote to the goodly amount of fizzy brew I consumed.

Well I have only really been able to commit to coming to see the fleet regularly since early October but I have been keeping a close eye on the team since I went to my first game in 2000. But know I am able to I already bought myself a Season ticket weeks ago. To me now no other team matters and I couldn't give a toss what happens in the Premiership any more and I only vaguely care about the national team. I am well a truly sucked in and am a diehard Fleet fan. Ebbsfleet United have most certainly have got a new loyal fan in me.
