Just like Oxford they have spent their "parachute payment" money and will have to cut costs next season

For every year these sort of teams stay in the conference, they become more of a conference side, and gets just as hard for them to get promoted as the rest of us. The money runs out, the fan base get's smaller,so even less money, downward spiral,Halifax at the moment are classic example.

Where did i say that ?

My little joke, which appears to have fallen on stoney ground, was that in a previous post, you referred to those who did the Mexican wave as showing disrespect for Torquay. When I said that my team won and her ( Helen C) team lost I thought that may have been construed as showing disrespect also, hence my reference, jokingly, to your goodself.

However, as it taken me longer to type this explanation than the original comment, I wish I had not tried to inject a little bit of humour into procedings after all !!

Where's that tea hut ?

Actually what I said, Hirsty, was that the waves were disrespectful towards the players. I didn't say that they were disrespectful to Torquay (ie their fans). If you re-read my post you will spot that this is the case.

Re: Mexican Waves...

Am I the only one who thinks that these are a bit, er 'naff'?

I can see them being a way to keep kids entertained during half-time when there is nothing happening on the pitch... But to start them during play and then to boo WHILE YOUR OWN TEAM has the ball surely isn't what the players want to see/hear?

I see the Exeter skipper has been mouthing off that they deserve to be in the league above. Not if they don't beat Cambridge they don't. Exeter, for a big fish in a little pond, have been distinctly average most seasons.

I'm hoping for a Cambridge win...

I'm kind of torn on this one Stu.

Cambridge, although we beat them, were possibly the best side to come to Stonebridge Road last season but it is an easier trip.

Every Exeter fan I have met over the years they have been here has been alright and some might say that they have served their time in the depths of Non-League.

It all comes down to who is better on the day and a little luck I guess.
