What a fabulous day that was.

Still cannot get down from my "high" so I really cannot post contructively (if I ever do!!), but that was just the best day I have ever had watching the best Fleet team ever, led by the best manager ever at the best ground ever.

Perfect result, great football played (cannot wait to see the video) and even the stewarding was thorough but courteous and freindly.

Even the Gulls forum are saying lots of nice things about us.

The Wave was brilliant fun Les , especially the boos that followed Torquays refusal to carry on. We knew we had won the game by then - so did they.

That was marvellous - I'll never forget today for as long as I live! It was worth waiting nearly 40 years for, standing in the rain, the cold, watching some mediocre performances and wondering just what the hell I was doing it for - today I know...

Fan bluddy tastic!

Was a fantastic result, at an inch perfect location...the stewards, when we chanted stand up, if you love ebbsfleet, all stood!! But i think that was because we stood and its rules that they have too aswell in case we jump the wall lmao! Must say a big thanks to Torquay, who were not complete Pr***s and showed grace after defeat..made the day a lot more pleasureable, and i have a lot of respect for the team...best of luck in 08-09!! Meanwhile Fleet, lets go celebrate, then go to wembley next year in the promotion scrap!! tongue

Ebbsfleet United 1-0 Torquay

McPhee 45.

Fantastic Day. After following the team for so many years i was almost in tears at the start when i saw the crowd and at the end when the game was over. Brilliant well done the club, the team, the supporters (everybody). Torquay played their part as did their own supporters .. wish them well in the future.

What a day .....

What a bloody marvelous fantastic superb brilliant magical day.

Apart from the first 10 minutes or so I did'nt think that Torquay were in the match and whilst I am exstatic about 1-0 it could of easily been 3 or 4. But who the hell cares! 1-0 is as good as 21-0 in a cup final.

Never thought that I'd admit it, but Liam Daish and Alan Kimble should become freemen of Gravesham, voted mayor given the OBE and the Victoria Cross.

What a bloody brilliant day.

Even my two teenage daughters, who have never been to a football match before let alone Wembley, let alone to watch the 'Fleet thought it was brilliant. Christ! even my wife thought it was excellent.

Somebody get me down from the ceiling, I am getting dizzy!

Sitting in the corinthian seats - good

Watching fleet players walk past me and shaking every players hand - good

Giving gravesend and northfleet scarf to macca as he walked past and watching every interview with him having it on - good

BUT

Going to shake Torquay skippers hand and then giving him the 'thumb to nose - flute' brush off - Quality!!

Come on - i love this club.

sour note - someone else in gravesend tonight stabbed and dead - why do we all stand back, put up with it and watch this town fall down!! serious sour note for me.

Over the years I've seen 'The Fleet' play hundreds of games all over England, but I remember very few of them. I don't know why, I just don't seem to be able to retain the events of a game, unless something extra ordinary happens.

It amazes me how some of the people I stand with every week, can remember specific events in games played years ago. They know what teams opposition players have played for and even notice the absence of opposition players who may be injured, suspended or have moved on, but I know one thing for certain. I will never, ever forget, from leaving home to arriving back again, the day my club, Ebbsfleet United first played and won at Wembley. Every single event is etched into my memory.

When I watched the lads climb those 107 steps on the big screen, to collect the Cup, I almost choked on the lump in my throat. I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. And now, almost 30 hours later, sitting in front of my PC, I feel exactly the same.

A day to remeber, you better believe it.
