Absolutely. I was only jesting smile

Anyway in answer to your original question, I'm sure the club will take a reprieve if it is offered, but the more I think about it, it won't be so bad to go down as long as we're in the hunt for the title next season. I'm personally not fussed what league that is.

Halifax seem to think judging by their website that they wont be playing lower than the unibond premier,

think its more likely that they will be in the unibond div 1, as it wont mess things up too much with that division playing with an extra team for a season especially when the league would be looking to have 22 clubs for both divisions by 2009.

Key point from their update today is this:

Quote:

v)The Consortium is still very keen to support and keep the Club going from the highest point possible in the pyramid. In view of the costs involved to secure the assets and goodwill, along with TUPE regulations and associated employment costs from taking on all the existing staff, this would perhaps only be possible to Conference North (Level 2), Unibond Premier (Level 3) and less likely, Unibond North One (Level 4).

Also seen this from another site

Halifax's big BIG problem is that there are two conflicting attempts to set up a new club.

1. The so-called Bantams Consortium (because two of the people concerned were until recently directors of Bradford City), which has been "imminently" taking over Halifax Town for the past 18 months. They haven't communicated with the fans at all, except to release a couple of vague press statements, both of which were notable for their inaccuracies. (Like suggesting that a new club set up by them would be able to play in the Unibond Premier Division or even higher - when the FA had already made it clear that Unibond Div One was the best that anyone could hope for).

2. Members of the Supporters' Trust are trying to set up a fans-owned club.

The problem is that half of the Trust and the Supporters Club want to go with the Consortium, on the grounds that they MAY be offering more money to invest in the club. But as the Consortium aren't saying anything to anyone, it is difficult to know just what they have in mind.

Until the Consortium make up their minds (and even after!) there is little in the way of concrete action being taken. And every day that passes makes it less and less likely that a new club can be formed in time to start the new season.

I really feel for the fans - especially those who have put in huge amounts of effort to try and set up a new club. They have been shafted by "businessmen" who clearly don't give a toss for the fans. And they have also been shafted by the section of the fans who can't be arsed to put in any effort to create a new club and who still want some sugar daddy to come along and fund their way back to League status.

It is a sad mess and I think that the likely end result will be a much smaller club being formed, possibly without access to the Shay Stadium. At present, the chances of Halifax ever getting near the BSP again (let alone the League) look extremely remote.

But what if they are added to that pot of 44? hopefully the FA will encourage them to look north to help in their numbers game up there, as they must be close to trad unibond area.

Difference between Nuneaton and Halifax is that Nuneaton were included in the Conference North allocation for the coming season.

It would simply mean a reprieve for Conference North then Unibond/Southern/Isthmian Premier highest place if they dropped two divisions.

This is on the Unibond website:

Following recommendations by the Alliance Committee, the Club allocations for Steps 1 to 4 of the National League System for Season 2008/09 have been confirmed today by the Football Association Leagues Committee.

In arriving at these allocations it has been assumed that Halifax Town FC have been expelled from the Football Conference. This has led to Altrincham FC, Hucknall Town FC, Borehamwood FC and Slough Town FC being reprieved from relegation at their respective levels.

This situation has NOT been confirmed and may be subject to change.

The FA will obviously make every effort to advise of any subsequent changes to the Halifax Town situation. As in previous years there, there may well be other changes forced upon us and these will be dealt with accordingly.

Dorney Rebel - if you look at my profile you will see that I am 105 years old - that does not mean that it is an accurate reflection of my true age - and neither does the statement you have posted about the unibond leauge reflect the final decision about where Slough will end up!

I suggest you wait untill the 14th of June when the leauge AGM is held and a final decision is made about the leauge structure.
