Greetings, folk from Billericay.

 

Just a quickie. Someone has posted on our forum that we are having a look at Lee Hodges - among other league clubs. He stated that Lee had mentioned to our manager (Nige Adkins) that he had never been as fit as when he was at Scunny a few years back and would love to return...

 

I read he is yet to sign a new deal for you guys but in your opinion do you think he's still good enough and fit enough to cut it back in the football league? During his early days with us he was unbelievable, my fave player by a walking mile, but he loved his beer too much and this ultimately ended his stay with us, such a shame for such a talented player.

 

Any info would be greatly apprecaited.

Hodges was by far our most creative player when he was on the pitch for us last season and our poor run of form co-incided with his injury.

 

IMHO it would be a bloomin travesty if he was allowed to leave.

Is Matt Game fit again, and any news if he will play for you next season

Matt Game came on as sub last game of the season which was just reward for all the hard work he has put in to rehab.

He is having a minor op over the summer to have screws removed and will be ready and fit for next seasons campaign.

 

Matt signed a new contract for us last week.

What i like about Hodges is that he tends to hug the touchline when most players tuck into the middle, which (imo) creates more space to run into. If you look at the likes of Ronaldo/Henry they do the same and love to cut in from a very wide angle. Wow...compliment for Hodgey boy there ! haha

I love Hodgie, he's a top bloke and in terms of pure footballing ability there's probably very few players that can touch him. There's a reason he plays at this level though and that's his fitness. I think it's a bridge (a couple in fact) too far for him to move back into league football...ohh and I also hope he stays with us.

How do ya think we feel about the goals he has missed.

And one of those missed shots got my daughter smack in the face on her first ever visit to New Lodge.

Still It's fitting that Lee has a thread all to himself.
Top Bloke and i for one would be gutted if we loose him.

I'm a bit confused by all this "ooooo, don't go Hodgie" sentiment by some. I think jl's post hits the nail on the head as far as playing at a higher level...

...as for another club comingin and offering him terms...them's the breaks. I certainly wouldn't want him to go because he is a top bloke and quality player. If we couldn't retain him as a player, I would hope he would have some coaching capacity open to him (if possible).
