Sympathy for Gillingham

Recommended Posts

The Gills have obviously deteriated over the last couple of seasons, they have gone from being a half decent Championship side to a very poor League 2 side, but there decline is by no means isolated, in todays football climate, money rules and more and more clubs are struggling to keep their League positions and it will get worse, more and more teams are threatened with extiction or going into administration and it's not good for the game. The door is closing on teams that aren't owned by multi millionaires and teams such as Gillingham are paying the price. Well, thats it for the sympathy for the Gills, now then, I actually believe we now have a stronger team than Gills and a brighter future due to growing suppport, cash from myfc, and a new stadium on the horizon. If we played them in a competitive match, I reckon we would edge it.

I know there's still residual animosity towards MyFC, but this is one of the reasons I want to see it succeed. If we can keep member numbers up, and especially add new local members who haven't previously supported the Fleet regularly, it will keep that cash infusion coming.

If only we could find 50,000 members like you Robert, I would have no qualms at all about MyFC.

Unfortunately, a lot of Northen members were swayed into believing they would be getting a Northern Club, a few deluded into thinking it would be Leeds, because they were top of the wanted list!

I see little difference between MyFC and Scally, he came to a small 3rd/4th Division Club as they were then and promised them the earth! Doesn't MyFC promise the chance of the Fleet having the potential to reach the Premiership?

Your commitment to the cause is beyond question, and long may it be so!

Don't tar us all with the same brush. Most of the Medway towns don't actually support Scallingham, those that do would be glad to see the back of him. Nasty little man, wrecked a team with his own ego. When he does walk away to a new business venture he will have a shiny football stadium to sell.

And leave Gillingham homeless waifs with a debt of

Dont have sympathy for Gills, it is our own fault we are facing relegation once more, as with many fans the blame lies with Mark Stimson as well as Scally, Stimson brought into the club players from the conference and below, he changed the team to quickly and the club has suffered dearly for it, of the non league players that arrived Nutter and Jackson were successful, Miller maybe if he could control himself,he collects to many bookings,so he is a liability to the club, the rest not good enough, again as for Scally he saved the club many years ago so we are grateful for that, if he goes he goes we have no control over that, anyway we wish you all the best for Saturday it would be fantastic if you win, we dedicated a page in the Swindon programme to you on the 26th April, good luck.

Did you forget to add '...and love' on the end of that sentence Harry...?

I love him. I think Adam's brilliant. He was my favourite ever Fleet player, God bless him.
