Football was of a generally high quality, and the are some good youngsters with promising futures.

I agree Gary. I was well impressed with the way we played and at 2-1 thought it was in the bag. Wasn't well positioned for the penalty so can't comment. The boys done us proud and were very unlucky.

Match turned on a debatable penalty awarded to Thatcham who then proceeded to score twice more in the next 5 minutes to effectively kill the game - the last goal was a defensive mix up between defender and keeper, but the third was a quality strike from 25 yards. Both sides played some good football though & as someone else said, "I've seen many worse Conference games". Our most promising player was our big Centre Forward, Sam Callender, I thought, until he had to go off after 55 minutes with cramp.

Give Thatcham their due as well - struggled at times to compete, but knocked the ball about really well for much of the second half. I'm sure there are a few of their players who will go on to higher level teams as well. They saw off Exeter, Woking & Weymouth among others in their group and for a "small team" against the "big boys", they have done extremely well.

People may say it is easy to write this after victory but i am pretty sure i would be doing it if we had lost as well.

Just want to say firstly to Mick and everybody at Ebbsfleet a massive thank you for your hospitality last night. A wonderful set of people at a fantastic club, the ground and especially the pitch is just superb.

Secondly to the set of players. A great side and well done on a great season but more than that to the character that your boys showed in defeat, these players trully are a credit to your club. For example the lad who came off injured made a point of coming up and congratulating us even though he was on crutches (hope not serious!). To show such class at such an age speaks volumes.

The future is definately promising at the Ebbsfleet and to all the spectators from either side i hope you had a good night and enjoyed some of the football on show.

Hope we meet again but for now you definately have another fan cheering you on against Torquay! Good luck with that. Come on the Fleet!!!!

Thanks once again.

I for one was highly entertained. That both teams should play such decent football, behave so impeccably and without giving up on the physical challenges, speaks volumes for the top quality of both sets of coaches.

Here at Fleet we have probably the best coaches and youth set-up outside the football league.

Congratuations to Thatcham, a well deserved win after a very good and entertaining match.

Number 11 was Jordan Thomas according to the team sheet I was given.

Was impressed with Sam Callander also ( apart from the orange boots !! It's not a fashion parade Brian !). Might have been different had young Mr Appiah not booked his holiday to coincide with the final !!

Anyway, the lads did well. Hopefully a few of them will make the grade.

Cheers,
