As we have a temporary lull in off field proceedings, i thought i'd return to the exciting topic of the pitch.

 

Should be in top notch condition for start of season as:

 

not as badly damaged last season as it was in winter of 2007,

 

good current growing conditions to get it back to great condition before any summer drought,

 

now established for three years and grass takes about 3/4 years to really establish itself.

 

I'm sure Ray will have this pitch to its rightful place as the best pitch in the ryman premiership by early August.

And it was in pretty good nick all this season too. According to a number of the players, it wasn't unusual for the opposition to comment on the quality of the playing surface, so well done Ray.

Looked very nice 3 weeks ago - if a little short. Peter Norton keeps it longer here at Fleet, the ball certainly runs truer on the ground.

Shame we don't play that way too often.
