maybe but we were the biggest % increase this season on the gate, so maybe we are heading in the right direction. It was suggested that it was because we had a young team and family members coming to watch but i can assure you that slowly people are coming to have a look. Last year i sat watching the first team and i cant remember a game with more than 15 people present. Now we are regularly past 50. Not loads but more and who knows with a push we could increase by 40-60% again next term. Not in the big league of things but realistic.

With this in mind, the Hive will be hosting the biggest poker event that's ever been held in Bernie's Bar - The Chafford Hundred Hundred. Just bring your unbuttoned cardigan, spray-on tan, grey farah slacks, white socks and grey slip-ons plus trophy wag and you are guaranteed a tasty free entry. It was going to be called The Chafford Hundred Score but we knew the last word wouldn't be understood by at least one of the participants.

 

Cards aside rest assured some of us will be trying to tap into the reservoir that is the population of Basildon over the summer, getting a better media profile, building the club up again very gradually. Rome wasn't built in a day, it has to be said, mind. It's just a shame Challenge Anneka wasn't about then.
