Pub On Saturday

As Redbridge's clubhouse is a bit lifeless, the earlier coaches will be doing a drop off at The Chequers pub, about a 10min walk down the road:

Went there before the league match, two pool tables, Sky TV, good selection of drinks, sorted!

 

We'll be there till about 2.30 and then take the walk up the hill I imagine

I'm easy, as long as the beer is flowing, but will they be showing the man u v MIGHTY HAMMERS ?

 

From a romanticism perspective, tomorrow has got to be a big and as important day as this certainly tops this , and as acheiveable as this .

 

 

Wished I still had that big 'Bucket n Spade FC flag' It ain't made an appearance since meeting those O so friendly folk at Mangotsfield !! I used to love taking that to BIG games.

No No, that weren't me. I was awake thru the whole 90 mins of that one (I think red bull had just been launched ). That was my lifelong buddy.....classic 8 hours drinking on the bus and in the pub. Feel asleep the minute he takes his seat,wakes up with a few minutes to go (a bit embarrassed) asks whats the score, just as Greggors gets clear thru !!

Oh right, I always thought it was you! That was hilarious looking at the photo of everyone afterwards celebrating with one fella asleep in the middle! Classic!

There were many many classics from those old pre-conf long haul days. Too much drinking on those exceptionally long coach journeys. I remember just arriving at Burnley away when a certain person (no names!!) staggered off the bus, breifly admired a police horse and was then barred from the first half of the game cause the police deemed him to be in a unfit state to safely spectate....
There was also the time at Stafford Rangers when one of our lot was 'forgotten' by the departing coach cause he was still in the clubhouse enjoying post match celebrations. But the rest of us were really appreciative of the extra seat and his liquid picnic on the way home.

Succesfully convincing the turnstile operators at Chester away that we were under 16, hence 1/2 price entrance - even though we could barely focus, stank like a brewery, and we're obvoiusly into our low 30's.

Getting to Hornchurch at 8o/c in the morning for a 3pm k/o and plotting up in the pub just outside the ground (t'was the day of the rugby world cup final)......leaving the pub at 2.55pm, and couldn't find the ground.

......I wont even talk about Halesowen, I could get had-up for slander.

But all of those instances, and many many similar was when i was very immature, and not the rationale supporter into which I've developed, who prides himself in acquiring all correct facts about a match before opening his 'north & south'.

Roll on tomorrow.
