According to other pages ( Canvey ) on these forums, Edgware have withdrawn from the League 2008 - 2009.

 

So, who gets relegated / promoted now ?

Just a matter of no relegations now [ilford & Wivenhoe reprieved for Leyton & Edgware], I guess.

I hope so. I think it's much more fair to cancel relegation places rather than promoting additional teams to fill the void.

I think the principle of reprieving teams above is well established and can be worked on a division by divison basis, without the recourse to play offs, extendng players contracts, etc. Just remember the chaos that the FA caused only a couple or so seasons back with Walton Casuals, etc.

 

There's really no sustainable alternative option

Good point. There is school of thought out there that says the ESL is not as strong as some other feeder leagues such as the SSML. Not too sure I agree but if that is the case then the second placed club there would certainly feel aggrieved.

If there's a shortfall in Ryman clubs then surely its the 2nd placed club with the best record that should be promoted from step 5 . That should mean averaging a points tally from games played .

Its a joke situation again with them . Whats the point of having relegation places if nobody goes down. As for Ambers We could be swapped round with Boring wood . And finally not forgetting Berkhampstead ? I believe its the third season as the bottom club for them also another joke situation Its obvious that Ilford & Berko are not equipped to be level 4 clubs surely the F A should recognise this fact .Putting them down a notch may even do them a favour.

I believe last year Ilford actually asked not to be reprieved. It seems to me that if you do that and then get relegated again then a further reprieve makes no sense. But I doubt whether the FA/Ryman rules address such a situation. Apart from the obvious problems about extending clubs' seasons, the solution might be in play offs. That way you'd have enough 'eligble' clubs whatever an end of seasons' circumstances were.

In general, I have long argued that success should be rewarded, rather than failure. If you finish in a relegation spot, then down you go, in my humble opinion.
