I'm local-ish and go to a couple of games a year at Lewes (when the mighty Charlton aren't playing on a Saturday 'cause of TV) and have to say it's the nicestest and friendliest ground I've been to. It still retains much of its original character despite new covered bits popping up to increase official capacity as they climb the pyramid. They are in financial do-do (what club isn't) at the moment and reportedly had to sack manager Steve King because new owners are coming in who want to bring in their own man as manager. Supposedly the existing owners can't afford to improve the ground to the next level (which it needs to be within 12 months of promotion according to Conference Rules) hence needing to get in new owners with bigger pockets as a matter of urgency. The ground is two minutes from the station and five from the town, and Lewes has one of the highest numbers of pubs per capita in the country (22 pubs for a population of 16k) and, as home to the Harvey's Brewery, is a great place for real ale fans. The cheapest beer prices in town are in the Lewes FC clubhouse,
