He includes us in the 6x22 league situation. We will find out in 2/3 weeks what league we are in, just sit tight.

Read his site properly! Has two versions depending on size of unibond divsion ones. We are reprieved in his view if 2x22 but not if 2x20. Anyway it's up to FA not TK, his is just an informed guess not gospel. Calm down before it's herat attacks all round.

I think he has more than an informed guess. I am sure I've read somewhere on his site he provides advice to the FA, or has provided previously.

Still, we end up where we end up. If we go down, we will plan to come straight back up and have a trip to Wembley in the mix as well. If we stay up, we'll be looking to get ourslves much higher up that table.

yes i read that too,TK knowledge and structure of the non league is immense and well respected.TBH i cant see the unibond expanding from 18 this season to 22 next,i think the agreement was 2o next season, followed by 22 the year after, and there are lots of clubs not wanting promotion,
Im probably one of the few who wouldnt see step 5 as the end of the world,we could bounce back no doubt like oxford city, and we have the fa vase to look forward to,we could have a winning team and who knows we might even have bigger crowds.

Bigger crowds??, I suggest is highly wishful thinking.

I first followed the Rebels, as a kid, in the late 70's.

Continuing to give my support, when I could, through the 80's, their Conference days and also on & off during their first three years back in the Isthmian. I hadn't been for a while, but saw the derby against Windsor earlier this season. It was very poor.

I really do admire the staunch supporters that have been able to stick with it, particularly during these recent lean years and would love and sincerely hope that the club is able to get itself back on its feet & become, albeit relatively, successful again.

However, the sad fact is that any "new" support, and in the current situation just as importantly any new "paying support" will be particularly hard to come by. Even forgetting the forecasted economic gloom, until the club is playing at a higher level and reasonable standard again how will prospective support be attracted. The quality of football is getting to too low a level to expect people to pay to watch it. The dissapointing fact is that it's not much higher than an, albeit decent standard, East Berks Premier division game. These can be watched for free at Mercian Way or Farnham Park.

Many of the players involved in the games, whilst granted in many cases giving their all, are also of that level.

I hope the club does find its way back to the town, it might then have some kind of chance, when back in its own community. Otherwise this latest relegation, if enforced, could finally finish off any chance it had of getting back to being one of the best non-league teams in the country. In the meantime, best of luck.

I'm not sure I agree with that view. I think people will watch a winning team, if we start next season brightly whatever league we are in I would anticipate bigger home attendances than this season. For example, I know of people who attended the Godalming game, their first of the season, thoroughly enjoyed it and said they will be back to the first home game of next season. I think for those not familiar with this level of football it makes little difference whether you are playing Chalfont Wasps or Didcot but if the product is enjoyable they may well comeback. The games can be entertaining without being technically much good.

maybe i was being optimistic, but if our support can be 200plus when we have done badly who knows if it will increaseif we have a league winning side next year.

i like you also first watched the rebels in the late seventies, watching on and off, moved away and got married and had a family in the eighties and nineties, and now have begun to watch more on a regular basis.

my only disagreement is suggesting that there is not much gap between east berks prem and southern league, ive seen both and believe me there is a differnce in the games ive been to. even eton wick when ive seen them against teams have been poor, the standard of passing, shooting etc is also poor.

Don't get me wrong, I sincerely hope that is the case.

But, I have a keen interest in local football generally, the pinnacle of which is and should be Slough Town. I've seen matches in the Hellenic, Combined Counties, East Berkshire and the like. I've even seen Sunday league games that can more than hold the interest.

The point I'm making is that it isn't just about the winning, you hardcore supporters wouldn't still be going if it was. The 3 seasons including the one when we went to Halifax and got relegated were not successful, a bit twisted I know, but the enjoyment was there to go back for more.I went to over 50 odd games the following season in the Diadora, there was something to hang on to.

All I'm saying is to actually PAY money to watch a football match, particularly on a regular basis, plus the investment in time & commitment, other than for the most hardcore supporter, becomes that much more difficult the further down the ladder the the team in question falls, the standard just falls far too low.

Thats not meant to be disrespectful to those playing and watching it, but it moves towards the teams that just close friends & relatives watch. Nothing wrong with that, but the struggle comes in getting other people to come along and pay to watch.

That said, I hope I'm wrong.

any particular reason or is it a step too far.
apparently their ground wasnt up to scratch so they are groundsharing at chalfont st peter in case anybodys interested. evil

After the disappointment of relegation last season I never thought I would see us get relegated out of this league, but it emerged very early on that we'd underestimated it. It's not a fantastic quality by any means but we've been well off the pace especially in the first half of the season. But I still attended the vast majority of games this season and will do next season, whoever we are playing.

My point was more to do with us falling off the football radar. I consider that I have a fairly decent knowledge of non-league clubs, but for me it would really be something to play against clubs I've not heard of before - like Chalfont Wasps for example. I know that is going to sound disrespectful to some and I'm bound to get some sort of reply.

Consider this as well - if Slough Town had folded a couple of years ago, where would the club have restarted? Probably not very far off the kind of level we've just been relegated into. Way below the level this club needs to be.

Having said all that though, I do honestly think that whatever league we're in, if we start well and are at the right end of the table, crowds will not only stay around 200 but increase as word gets out. People will return to watch a winning side because for many it's too hard to watch their club losing week in, week out whereas the hardcore have remained. I was kind of hoping this would happen this season though!

Next season, a title challenge is a must, and if we are able to stay in this league, looking much higher up the league.

Will Wembley FC be in our league then? ;-)

It seems. at least for now, that one of the following 3 leagues, Slough Town are most likely to slip in to:

Hellenic league honours

Combined Counties honours

South Midlands Premier honours

These links indicate the types of attendances enjoyed in these leagues:

Combined counties attendances

Hellenic Premier attendances

South Midlands Premier attendances

One things for sure, Sloughs away support will certainly push up the averages!.

he also had us shifting to the southern premier twice before we were relegated. All the re-org is down to common sense, logistics and best-fits which is why we were constantly threatened with shifting to the Southern. And besides, it really does depend on who comes up, expansion of other leagues, etc. so take it as we are relegated unless otherwise stated

Bit disrespectful to say ' Don't want to be playing Chalfont Wasps next season ' . Who'se fault is it we're now at Step 5 of the non league ladder ? For sure it's not theirs !! We have to accept the level we are now at and respect all the teams as we attempt to rebuild our club . Not make enemies along the way
