Commiserations to the Urchins, but a good achievement making the play-offs at all in your first season. Personally I'm looking forward to visiting the Bridge again next season, but I would also have enjoyed a quiet chuckle if you'd kept the Wombles down for another year wink Guess that task now falls to Staines.

Quite a result for C****y. Perhaps there'll be a few Essex derbies after-all.

ah right... sorry TC obviously read it wrong... happens sometimes..and I didn't think anything was aimed at us I genuinely didn't realise who or what you were referring to....the subs one you have to admit is unlikely albeit noble in its enterprise...thats if you wanna win anything next season...grin

BTC are about I know but mind you I have long since stopped worrying about who plays for what....we were narrowly beaten by a team with a 12 grand a week budget last night and regardless of what the players play for..... money does buy success on the pitch and thats been proven time and time again..sadly...

as for chilling... I am indeed chilled...a lot more so than I would have been had we got into conference sarf...to early... but don't tell our fans that I said that will you.. laugh

see you all next season...

xx

May I come in with a comment?

Next season, I believe we will have plenty of experienece in the team, as we have always had. It has always been a policy of the club to attract young players that have a desire to further their career higher in the pyramid. Their desire to do well for themselves, mixed with the experienece of our more established players, can only be a benefit for the club. Should we be pushing for promotion or not, depends on if we get the "mix" right. I am hopeful that we will as we have in the past.

We may not have gained our desired prize over the past four seasons but we have come close. Some may see this as a faliure but, with the exception of this season, I see it as a desire to build a solid foundation in which, when success comes, it's sustainable. Unfortunately, for those that desire success here and now, this isn't the fast track. We've seen what happens to clubs that "fast track" and the difficulties they have when people or (financial) circumstances go against them.

We have been lucky with young players. Nathan Elder and Chris Whelpdale appear to have settled in their places with their new clubs and one, if not both, look to further their career. The club has a reputation now of finding young talent and developing them for themselves and the club. True, we struggled to replace them last season (if you want one reason as to why we didn't do as well as we could've) but that's football. Players like them don't come around every season...or do they? As TC said, we do have one player that is being looked at by two clubs higher up the pyramid at this present time...

It's a very noble thing to do but there is also the cash implications should any player push on further or should we find other players that other clubs are interested in. And if the cash is used wisely, there comes a certain amount of stability in bringing other players of experienece and youth that want to play for the club...not some player that wants a season here and then there...

As I said, IMO, it isn't a "fast track" to success but we haven't done so bad over the past four seasons. Two play off spots, missed one play off place that came down to the wire and this season, where we were in the hunt for the latter part but just "ran out of legs". And the club off the pitch has developed. We're stable, we haven't taken part in any "look we're up" only to find ourselves counting the cost a couple of seasons later and dropping because we can't afford it and we are looking to compete for promotion next season and futher future success, which are atainable and sustainable. Our support has also grown, albeit slowly but any new supporters have found themselves part of a friendly, family club.

Not bad for a club that takes a "noble" path.

you seem to have taken offence at my post in that respect...no offence was intended I was merely giving my opinion which is what the forums are for after all...

I think, with the expereience we have we'll be cutting off our nose to spike our face if we had a "bit of a clear out". I can understand the club and certain players wishing to part (on good terms, of course) but not a wholesale start again...

Anyway, speculate as much as you can and dare...it's Jason's and Grant's call and I for one am quite excited as to seeing what their vision and team for next season will look like.

Quantity or quality, youth or experience, new faces or old faces - It's all about balance for me (and I was struggling to do that on Saturday I can tell you!!) - But the over-riding factor has to be the desire to play for us. If players don't want to play for us or want more money than we can afford, then let them go, whoever they may be.

Come on you blues!!!
