At the end of a long season...

Recommended Posts

Well, folks, how are you all at the end of another long season?

It seems that both of our clubs have suffered from indifferent form of late, ours as much down to resting players these past four games. We gave a day off to our player of the season, and midfield dynamo, 'Jesus' (long hair) Hargreaves, yesterday which messed up our defence totally, for example.

I trust our play-off semi exertions against our Devon rivals won't take too much out of us, though I expect it might. Those two upcoming games will either spur us on or deflate us entirely - though I suppose that's pretty obvious! ;o)

So, how's your squad shaping up for the big day? And, on the fan front, it goes without saying, I'd imagine, that your local area must be festooned with your club colours?

See you after the little matter of turning over the Greeks, I trust!

Cheers

As per agrement from the local Council, we still have the St George's flags up outside my local. The flags will be staying up until after May 10, so there is quite a lot of red & white about. I think the Ticket sales have topped 20,000 now & there was quite a queue at the Ticket/merchandise hut yesterday as well. So, all seems to be progressing reasonably well so far.

Good luck against Exeter.

Cheers,

Thanks for the well wishes against Excretia! It'll be quite an occasion, twice over. At least I can watch the games on Setanta on Thursday and Monday as they're showing all the play-off matches live. I'll be off to my local (farmers') pub up here in rural mid-Northumberland!

Do you think you and the Greeks match will be a sell out? Best of luck in the play-offs! Think you are really going to need it!

A sell out, are you kidding?! If we both played in 20,000 seaters, they'd both sell out twice over! As far as I'm aware, this side of league matches over the years, this is the one and only time we've played a meaningful match against them.

Thanks for the good wishes from you too! Please feel free, Fleet fans, to be honorary Gulls on Thursday evening and Monday-week lunchtime, then back to the Fleet on the Saturday! ;o)

Cheers

Anything that helps keep Exeter and their 'we're to big for this league' attitude down keeps me happy.

And another one for you!

Cheers all - is it me, or is this week dragging already! ;o)

I really don't know where it originated that Torquay think of themselves as 'big-time Charlies'. I think it's a tag put on us by others. I, certainly, don't know anybody who thinks like that either at the club or on the terraces.

I remember, 46 games ago, a very few posts on our board about not relishing some of the away fixtures and a hope that we'd go straight back up, but that's a world apart from thinking we're too big or good for the BSP. We all knew we had played like donkeys in season 2006-7 and very much deserved to be here.

As for the Greeks, one visit to their boards, at least, will give a totally different impression. Okay, just now they're full of huff and bluster about our all-Devon play-off semi, but even under that is a vein of "we're too good for this sh1te".

Here's hoping we turn them over on Thursday evening and Monday lunchtime.

Cheers
