I never expected that in my lifetime I would see us finish a league campaign lower than Ramsgate...and now we may (though I doubt it) even start next season a league below them!

As much as it pains me, you have to say fair play to them. The have not had a great season but have continued to plug away and have taken full advantage of poor form from the other top sides. Just to think that the wins that we should have had at home to Folkestone, Maidstone and Hastings would have seen us already securely in the play-offs even before today's game.

Right now all I can see this as is a completely wasted season. Next year with the likes of Dartford and Dover also competing it is going to be even tougher and the near misses of this year and last may prove very costly.

Although agreeeing that a move towards more local players is a good long-run thing, I think that the only chance we have of going up next year is to have a mix of youth and experience. I think that next years league will be far too strong for local youngsters alone.

Completely agree Steve. I can't stand the thought of them above us at the end of the season. The only grain of comfort I take is that this IS their peak. For us over recent years, it's a low. Yes, our low is Ramsgate's peak. There, I do feel a little beter. Now, to find a way to stop them talking about their b****y team on the Margate forum. mad

Absolutely agree with all the above. Ramsgate had a job to do yesterday & they pulled it off & did the business. They got lucky with the Hendon result but you just cannot fault them on what they have achieved this season. How can anyone, even their worst enemy not give them the credit. You just cannot knock them can you?

Okay, they have a lot more work to do yet, just getting into the play-offs,though commendable isn't quite enough on its own. Who's to say they won't get there in the end. They have the will to do it & have continued to do what they need to do when required & its not a impossibility that they will succeed.

Our year, well as Wellsie says, the complete opposite though even with our disastrous defence we have finished just two victories off the Rams & thats shouldn't go unnoticed.

So was it that bad a season for us after all?. Yes & no.

Well done Ramsgate, but excuse me for not wishing you well (I wouldn't in all honesty mean it if I said otherwise) but I suppose not doing that gives you an added spur to go on to win maybe.

I think with us being rivals it has had a big say in Ramsgates continued drive to do well this season, wink with them trying to not only show others what they can do but to get one over on us week in week out, after all these years of being second best.

Its Ramsgates year without doubt but I'm sure we will be back next season stronger to regain our crown provided they don't go up of course.

We need them here so that we can put things right after this "blip" of ours. The crown of local football has been well deserved by the reds but it IS only lent! wink smile

MM unless MFC employ Moses as our new Manager next season don`t expect to many miricles , there`s less money apparently to spend, alot of the squad will have gone on to other things so 6th & 9th places over the past couple of seasons might not look so bad under a rookie boss with board full of misfirng muppets behind him . Lets hope this can all be sorted out so the whole club can start to enjoy life again . A new manager a new team and maybe a new board who will you moan about 1st .

I should imagine that was a major factor in not renewing Trotts contract.

Signing lots of wide midfield players (to prove he could sign players ?) whilst not signing defenders. Then saying the funds were not available . Not particular wise imo

As Trott himself said on kentonline* the board backed him money-wise (for example signing Peters from Brentford). However, we are by no means the most profligate club in this league. Hearing what Carshalton offered Charlie Side made my eyes water!

*"I said at the start of the season that to get to the play-offs would be fantastic this season and to be fair the club have given me the players when we needed them, but the purse is only so deep."
