Rather than repeating it here Andy, what does it make you feel about the current situation?

IOT Gazette 25/04/08

Other side of the story

OPEN LETTER TO MARGATE FANS [from three directors]

In the last couple of weeks there have been various press statements regarding the club

Some of these are misleading and some are incorrect. We would like to put the record straight and reassure our loyal supporters.

In 2005 Thanet District Council generously agreed to help Margate Football Club by agreeing in principle to a development at Hartsdown Park, part of which was on land owned by the council.

In broad terms the agreement was that Gary Lever and the development company would be allowed various developments, including the five-a-side floodlit pitches on the Hartsdown site that is rented from the council.

In return, the development company, out of their profit, would help the club financially and provide a new stadium.

It is true that Gary Lever has helped the club return to Hartsdown and provided generous loans to support us, and the club is very grateful.

Hopefully, Gary will be reimbursed when the development is completed.

However, it is untrue that he has invested

so who do you want to run the club

Piper & Co: ex Bankrupt, put club in CVA, & Property Developers

or

Rowlett & Co: All top business man within the local area, all of

of whom want success back to the club

Not ideal i agree Alan, but this stuff goes on all the time in boardrooms length and breadth of the country;yet companies keep on going.

I really think the impact on the players anf football club manger is and certainly should be minimal.

Are we just trying to make excuses for what has been a below average two seasons of football club management (and not just reflected in the league postions ).

I suspect, there will remain a queue of managers wanting to take on the managers role.

Either way-these things always get sorted in time.

Conflict eventually leads to agreement-look at Northern Ireland

This really is quite shocking. I really fear for the clubs future if Keith Piper wins this one.

And if between him and Gary Lever they own 80% it looks odds on that they will.

The only hope now would seem to be with the FA and/or the council.

It appears that the council were told that the club would benefit from the land. not that they were giving it away to a property developer there should be a public inquiry into this.

Can someone who has a scanner(I don't) please also put on here the other column entitled" Rowlett & co in quit threat". Keiths side to this.

Personally I would just like to see what comes out of this meeting before I make a decision either way but I,like everyone else,am showing deep concern with this split.

We all want to see this clubs future continue & to also see works continuing on bringing that "stadium" to its finish.I believe that part of things is on "hold" at present.

Whatever comes of this meeting I for one do not like to see foul play & will most certainly give my utmost,in my own humble way to

see a continuation of this club should we,the fans be overlooked with any decisions made,& by whom.

I neither support Keith Piper or the other side on this as my knowledge of running a football club etc is nigh on "nil".Though on reading the above comments can see both arguments.

However having said all the above I would hope that those running this club, between them, can come to some sort of compromise to get this club up & going again, without the need for any sackings or resignations, & in ALL directions.

My plea to the directors is to :

"Please sort this out" For fairness to the supporters to yourselves,to the developer & to this town" but most of all this once fine football club".

We are proud of this club & its history & it has to continue & continue in the right direction. Upwards again.

Similar events occurred at Fulham 25 years ago when the then directors Eric Miller and Ernie Clay got involved with David Bulstrode of Marler Estates.

That nearly killed Fulham off, something Colin Page should be well aware of.

I DON'T want to go through the same situation again with Margate so the people involved should remember this is NOT their team and club but OURS.

Sort it out and sort it out fast or you will never be forgiven
