If only we had these guys in for more time this season!! I still think we will survive by beating fleet saturday but the transformation that there has been since these 2 have been running the show who knows where we would have been if they had got the job at xmas!!! Our very own little and large! Rodney & Del Boy (sorry Calvin your Rodney) roll on next season!!! Cant wait!! Oh and good luck to the Walkers Saturday!!!!

yes they should have been chosen first time round,still better late than never.their knowledge of the southern league is immense and if we stay up i can quite easily see us in the play offs next season.

cant be much difference i wouldnt have thought

 

sweetman and maye had a few dodgy first games but that was expected considering how late in the season it was

 

betts and barnard started excellent but then ended poorly

so had Sweetman got the job when Betts did (nothing against Betts) we would have possibly been looking at an extra 2 or 3 points roughly not too much in it

 

Wilko is the one who had too long unfortunately forcing the next 2 managers to play catchup before they even got started

It's too easy to look back on what ifs. What has happened has happened. We just need to get behind them Saturday.

 

Whatever happens after the last three results we can go into next season with confidence. And this team is immeasurably better than the one we started the season with.

But how many players would we keep if we went down?.

 

I'd say for sure we would lose Terry Davies, Pritchard, Meddie, Robinson, Jeffries. And then of course will Steve Daly and Connor hang their boots up?

yeah thats my fear every time we get a decent set of players together most of them leave due to wages in the past and now maybe because of relegation again. when was the last time the majority of the squad at the end of a season started the next?? the answer is far too long. you get nowhere fast rebuilding the squad a few times a season

I would have thought most of the current set of players would remain for next season, assuming the budget/management is the same in August. If we can hold onto the current squad we surely must be in for a good term next season

If we go down the only chance IMO we would have of holding onto our best players would be if the budget stayed the same but because of smaller crowds/less season ticket holders and maybe reduced entrance fees that would probably mean someone dipping their pockets to fund the shortfall. Unless, by some miracle, we get lots of corporate sponsorship for a team, as BR says in the 'Dog & Duck' league.

As a Slough supporter of many years I still find some postings rather derogatory towards the leagues that Slough could well be playing in next season, Re. Dog & Duck league one man and his dog Etc. This season having watched many Combined Counties, Ryman and Southern Gas games I can assure you that the quality of a number of CC teams are at the same level. Remember Guildford City, Dorking & Neasden Foundation beat Slough pre season all from the Combined Counties.

Flint 700, with no disrespect to clubs at Level 5 it is a disaster for Slough to be playing at that level. That said, no club has a right to be in any league and we've been heading in the wrong direction for a long time now.

When i don't watch Slough i usually watch Sussex County football and i take my hat off to the hard work that usually a few people behind the scenes put into those clubs to keep them going.

Brighton Rebel that is my point, please tell your supporters not to be disrespectful to teams at level 5 as I can assure you that they are just as passionate about their local team as you are. It is all about how the club is run and supported even if they are playing in the Dog & Duck League with one man and his dog to support the team. I know it must be really hard to consider playing at level 5 but just think Aldershot started at level 6.
