Ramsgate 0 Margate 1 - 23.4.1973

Margate's win at Southwood, courtesy of a Barry Brown goal, effectively ended Ramsgate's one season reign in the Southern League Premier Division.

It was Ramsgate's highest ever ranking finish and with the various re-organisations since, who agrees that they'll have to get into the Blue Square Premier to emulate it. IMHO, The SLP in 1972/3 was equivalent to today's Conference.

Ron Atkinson's Kettering won the title with Yeovil second and Dover third. Poole, Burton and Waterlooville were relegated along with the Rams.

Ramsgate 1 - 0 Margate

Monday 24 March 2008

In the 2nd meeting of the Island's senior teams the RAMS didn't have to share the points again, as a peach of a goal from Ashley Burton ensured all 3 points.

Jimmy Ward's Ramsgate marched closer to the playoff places with a 1-0 win over local rivals Margate, on a cold blustery Easter Monday at Southwood.

I open what i want Rob and my reasoning for it being the wrong forum is that Margate fans don't really have any interest about when Ramsgate beat us, a bit like you don't have any interest when we have beaten you all those times down the years. If the 1973 scoreline was put on your forum the response (if any) will be of non-interest.

Is that answer suffice Rob?
