Exactly right there. If only MFC could come up with something to guide these lads over these none playing periods and through the season. Some might not take notice but some might. I have a real fight with my son over it. At 18 the slightest indication that MFC are giving him the run round and he loses interest. I`m sure that if someone (ex pro status perhaps) had a few words of encouragement players might respond. Tuesday night gave us a good idea of what we have in Thanet, and there are a few to come that I rate. If we put aside that the Renaldo`s of this world have been gobbled up and except that many of these lads will need a few years to fill out and develop, I know some doubt this, MFC and RFC could produce good local teams. Already mentioned Elliot P, who has come on 100% and not forgetting Arran, young player of the year, both in u18s last year, I could go on. It really is up to MFC to develop these lads. I understand (correct me if I am wrong) that tomorrow a reserve side travels to Thamesmead (div 1 champions by a mile) with no player over 19. Whilst we might expect a bit of a lesson it will be interesting to see how the side plays. A side full of 18 y o wanting to prove something might be worth the trip, never mind the BLUE v RED tomorrow. Up the young Gate

I was priviledged to see many of them play really well in the second half last Tuesday.

 

That was 35 odd minutes though.

 

What these guys need to do now though is put on a similar effort tomorrow.

Consistency is so much more important than odd flashes of collective brilliance.

 

They do not need to win tomorrow-but so they can genuinely take credit for Tuesday night, they need to put on another good show and fighting effort tomorrow.

If they do that-then we really can start to believe in them
