time up for mr.errington??

Recommended Posts

interested to read the 'how funny' post, again the assorted goons who are running?? the ESL make the wrong call.

on saturday me and the 'old man' laughed like hyenas at the APSA bench which included one rather lonesome middle aged asian gentleman but its not funny is it.

nothing against the 3 asian teams but why arent they playing sunday morning football in some London League?

i have nothing against rob errington in person but apart from his wifes obsession with stopping people taking alcohol into ESL grounds what exact purpose is he serving?

i just ask one thing of mr. errington, you have internet access so why not come on here and answer your critics??

I presently have no allegiance to the ESL or any other League but, as a former Secretary of two clubs, several competitions and the Isthmian Lower Joint Liaison Committee, I've had personal dealings with senior League Officials in most Step 4 & 5 Leagues in the South of the country and, in my opinion, Robert Errington is one of the most dedicated, professional, forthcoming and honest League Officers that you could find. I think you will find that he has taken a back seat regarding this forum as he has come to realise that this is not the place to discuss League business. However, if he is approached through formal channels, he is always as co-operative a guy as you could wish to find.

The problems of the ESL have built up over the years and are well documented, i.e. consistently promoting clubs to the Isthmian League and getting nothing in return and unable to promote from below because the League operates beneath a County FA that is one of the most stringent in country in terms of ground grading for senior status (at least 20 Essex Olympian League sides could walk into the Herts "Senior" County League tomorrow under that County FA's ground grading criteria).

In terms of the purpose that Rob Errington is serving, he has kept the ESL going through a very trying period when, at times, it has been down to as little as 14 clubs. He has fought his battles with the FA to keep the League going and if, as seems likely, a second division is formed in the next couple of seasons, he will have overseen a tremendous achievement.

Not only would Rob be very difficult to replace in terms of experience and sheer love of the game, it would be difficult to find a replacement who can command as much respect at the FA, the Isthmian League and the Essex FA as he does.

this is not a witch hunt against rob errington but there are many issues which he needs to address and what better way to address them issues than to come on this forum and answer his critics.

maybe he does great work behind the scenes but if that is the case then he needs to advertise this work and embarass his critics.

i repeat that i have nothing against this individual but i will continue to crictise his actions and i for one wont be sleeping easy at night until he answers my criticisms.

Richard,i have noticed your kenness over last few months in attacking our league chairman on this forum, every time you had been given a chance.I believe that if you have a problem with him or the way the ESL is run, just approach him at the next game and tell him to his face. After all, over 20 years of dedicated work in running a league at step 5,deserve more respect. The forum is not the right place to discuss things...if you are ever that keen, invite mr Errington for a drink at a local pub near the Southend seafront were he lives...you might learn a thing or two.

Our Mr chairman commands much respect from myself and i can only echo what football man said about this real grass roots loving person.

It is so apparant that Mr Errington works hard at his job flying the flag for our essex senior league.

When you speak to him or see him talking about the league he does it with a real passion and i have full confidence in what he is trying to acheive.

Why try to put him down when its clear to see that he wants the best for this league and with his drive and determination im sure he will eventually acheive this goal!

In life people are quick to moan and not so quick to give praise this is a typical English trait!

Its a total no brainer for me Mr Errington deserves nothing but applause applause

Mr Errington deserves a bl**dy medal for his dedication and hard work with the ESL, working with a pair of concrete shoes on and one hand tied behind his back must be the most frustrating thing ever. He works non stop to promote his league, the clubs and all that is good in football.

They say a little knowledge is dangerous, if only some people knew. Carry on Rob.

A post to far Richard; You really do not have a clue; I would imagine that Mr Eriington (who most certianly wears the trousers in his house) is to honorable and dignified to even think about responding to you; His great work is there for all to see and has been for the past 20 years, long may it last.

Well said.

My own experience of a season in The ESL showed that Rob is a most decent and hard working individual who is backed up by an excellent team. Rob showed great courtesy and dignity at all times and the ESL is all the better for him being there.

Until you've seen how other leagues are run, I don't think you realise what a thoroughly fantastic servant you have in Rob.

Richard

Why not do something proactive and stand as ESL chairman. Elections will be soon and it would be interesting to hear your views.

Don't just criticise, get elected and attend all the meetings in the UK, do all the admin and field all the calls.

And if you fail, we can then come on here and pillory you.
