At home, only the current top 3 sides have won more games than us, and only the top 5 match or better the number of points we've got at home. Also only 7 sides have scored more at home than us - 6 of those are currently above us & the other is Crawley.

 

By contrast, however, only the bottom 7 sides have won fewer games away from home than us and only the bottom 9 have fewer points away from home than us. Finally, only 6 sides have scored fewer away goals than us, and 4 of those are in the bottom 6 currently.

 

What goes wrong away from home? Definitely something that needs looking at for next season, if we are to challenge for the playoffs.

I think that 'goals for' is the key to the season. Only Oxford have a worse record than Fleet in the entire top half of the table. Hopefully this will change next season - Akinde will have experience under his belt, a replacement for Nade will (hopefully) be found in the summer, and as long as Stacey & McPhee can continue to add the their totals the play-offs would not be out of reach!

It's important to factor in the hilarious fixture congestion when relating to away games.

 

The games at Histon, Halifax, Droylesden etc.

 

The Trophy has brought many benefits but alas kicked us in the ass with the league when we were nicely poised.

It's not a replacement for Nade that we need, it's two strikers in addition to the three that we have. This season, and again two seasons ago we have had to play too many matches without a proper striker available.

IMO you cannot put in a championship attempt without at least 5 recognised strikers. That way you can rotate them around a bit to ensure that they remain fit and available when the fixture pile=up at the end of the season arrives.

I think it's more a debate about squeezing too many matches into the end of the season when one is on a cup run.

 

The postponements at Histon and Droyslden didn't help though.

Because the way you have worded things, the games away did we actually lose more than most? or did we draw more than most? rather than lose ? I cannot be bothered to work it out,
