2 league games left - who would you keep from the current squad for next year?

Already signed:

Akinde

Cronin

Long

Smith

Would like to keep:

Bostwick

Barrett

McPhee

Opinel

Ricketts

Eribenne

Hawkins

McCarthy

Charles (possibly too good for our level but would be very welcome)

Would keep depending on fitness:

Slatter

Coleman

Not sure about:

Moore

Purcell

Hearn (the fact he's on loan from Grays suggests no future there)

Stubbs

Maskell

Release:

Nade

MacDonald

Bull

George Purcell would definitely be on my 'keep' list, he is one of the best prospects we have and terrifies defences with his pace, his only downfall is he lacks in awareness at times, but he is a young player learning his trade and will one day be one of the First names on the Managers Teamsheet. Also, Luke Moore, again a great young talent that must be kept at the club, another regular First Teamer of the future. As for the likes of Stacy, Lance, Sasha, James Smith and Mcphee, they will stay next season but I reckon we will need to reach at least the play offs to hold onto these types of players.

Deffo keep Hearn.

Looks a class act, could replace Barratt as the centre midfield playmaker, with Bostwick as the enforcer.

Can afford to lose Bull, McDonald, Nade and even possibly Eribenne if we can acquire better strikers.

Would keep the rest, although Slatter may find it much tougher if and when he returns. Would be a squad player at most in future.

Wasnt a great lover of Hearn to begin with but he is getting involved and is aware of what is going on around him. Not good enough for a regular first team spoy YET.

ADarius Charles is a class defender. pity he is likely to go to league footie next year.

Moore needs goals. I got this feeling he is about to have three big games for the fleet. Shoot me down next week on this poiint.

Nade for me dug his own grave at Margate where he was unintrested , unresponsive to through balls and looked easliy controlled by the Margate defance. An opportunity wasted for him.

I would definitely keep Moore

We will need to let some people go to make way for new signings - priority is a striker who can score 15 goals next season. Centre back and a midfielder capable of getting into the first team would also be beneficial. Target should be to get players who can challange for a first team spot and not just be squad players.

So they take Charlie off of us for nothing, don't give him any games and you want to pay them his wages for the year!
Well done.

Where are you going to get the

Nope, target should be to get players who relegate this years first team players to challenging for a first team spot otherwise we will still finish seventh in the league but have a better side for the KSC and the Setanta Shield.

Based on what? Time to roll out the age-old arguement - How many times have you seen him play?
He's not up to the job as a striker. Not yet, maybe not ever. Lacks confidence that a few goals might restore. Let him go somewhere to learn how to take the shot when its on. Same with Purcell, needs to learn when a pass is better than a shot. Maybe its just their age, but I don't think either of them are ready for a promotion-pushing season, and def not league football.

Would prefer to keep Charles out of the 2 recent loan players.

Can easily find better than Nade and MacDonald.

Would be great to find a 20 goals a season striker somewhere!

Sh*t ! I was about to post that !

I think we should keep Luke.....not necessarily as an out & out striker but maybe as an attacking midfield player ? Don't forget that a lot of the lads are young and still not the finished article. It would be nice if they were to progress to greater things, even if we had to sell !

I think Nade should go because he looks like Ashley Cole !!!

It's a game of two halves Brian !....unless it's a two legged FAT Semi Final !!

Cheers,

Hirsty - Agree that age is probably the only thing holding Moore (and probably Purcell) back. But if Fleet are to push onwards and upwards next season then these players are not YET ready to do so. Would like to think that in a year or two, with experience gained elsewhere, they would do a great job at 'San Stonebridge' - or whatever else it might be called by then!

That is why clubs have a reserve side, so young players get experience in-house.
If Myfc want to do anything with all their dosh, then get a reserve side up and running!
Forget about promotion for a couple of years, and get strength in depth!
