Let us get the turnstiles clicking !!

Recommended Posts

Once we appoint a new Chief Executive, whatever that role entails, can we then fill the vacancy of Commercial manager, which for a club of our size and our (comparatively) small attendances, is crucial to the ongoing success of the club.

Let us have a major fan recruitment campaign this summer, so that hundreds of kids, Mums and Dads, become regulars next season.

It has been raised before on the Select forum, but I feel this needs major publicity.

Let us get Chas Webster, Mike Green, Matt Davison et al on board and get the ball rolling. I posted the following in March, but it is worth the Management of the club giving this some serious thought and consideration.

'Kids for a quid' is a fine idea. This kind of scheme has been trialled before, and I believe proved a success. What we also need is a major publicity campaign, on RK, Invicta Radio and the Gravesend Reporter. Target every school in the Borough, offer each school up to say 200 complementary tickets, to be used by Children when accompanied by a full paying adult. So what if an adult brings in 10 kids. 5 of those 10 may enjoy it enough to bring friends and Mums/Dads next game.

The potential audience in the North Kent area is huge, and likely to increase massively in the next 5 years. With some effort in the right quarters we too could be getting gates like Doncaster, Yeovil (and Aldershot).

Most of the people who come to Fleet are loyal supporters who have been coming for many years.

If we can get new people through the turnstiles a couple of times, the chances are they too will become regulars.

We have already proved this by doubling our attendances from the faithful 500 2 years ago to 900+ last year, to 1200 this year.

We have the best manager, management team, Chairman and board in the league and now have the potential to get 3000+ crowds. Lets us go for it.

We are now a sleeping giant, let us now realise our ambitions.

i doubt the crowd will reach that height <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> its not exactly the glamour the canvey game is it? or the other game that attracted 2000+ Boreham wood. i know it is more important, i have also every confidence that we can stay up! We will have benno and che back.

Whilst I agree it has not got the local rivalry, it is certainly a more appealing game.

Canvey - No history - Ten years ago park footie

Halifax - Until recently a well established football league club, and along with Crewe, one of the few teams that can boast an X in their name !

the Canvey game we could afford to lose ( which we did ) and still win the league.

A defeat on Saturday and we are doomed. ( Alright I know that we could stay up, but that would be very unlikely bearing in mind that Woking and Leigh will probably win)

its been 20 odd years since we last bowed out of the top flight of non league footie, which seems like a life time ago,

and well before a lot of our new fans were born.

I don't want us to suffer that same fate again.

I agree, Halifax have a long history & will be known to a lot of people in the North Kent area. If the importance of this match were to be publicized more it could bring in a lot more spectators through the tunstiles.

Come on you reds 1:0, 10:0 I don't care all we want is a bl**dy win.

I think there will be a bigger crowd than 2,000 people on Saturday. Personally I know of 6 who don't normally attend. My point is that if every one of the 1,000 regular also knows 6 then the crowd will be around 6,000. I'm not expecting that amount but I reckon 3-4,000 is achievable.

Spread the word.

Hopefully we will get a healthy crowd, but whatever it's size the most important thing is to get behind the whole team. It is up to the regulars to start and sustain this throughout the game and above all to be positive. This includes the group who, while no doubt considering themselves to be loyal supporters, usually stand in front of the tea bar/shop and regularly and very loudly slag off Che and last week Budge too. If they can't say something positive about our own team I suggest that they go and stand at the Halifax end! So, maximum support from everybody please whatever your usual petty vendettas.

I, for one, get annoyed by the bunch that stand near me towards the edge of the penalty area on the Stonebridge Road side - they seem to take more delight in mocking fellow Fleet fans as they get behind the team than in getting behind the team themselves.

If you're reading this, SHOUT TO SUPPORT YOUR TEAM NOT TO MOCK OTHERS.

Didn't it feel good looking around the ground on Saturday ,and seeing 1,900 fleet fans spurring the team onto victory.

We have increased our attendances in the past few seasons, but there is still a long way to go.

lets have a charm offensive in the area over the close season, and aim to bring our average up to above the 1,500 mark for next year.

With the right amount of advertising, and targetting the right areas we can do it.

The futures bright, the futures Andy Fords red and white army.
