I will not bother sponsoring a player next year

When I am waiting to be called up to collect my sponsor shirt from Justin Skinner I do not expect a stupid git filling his face at a table tell me to get out of his way as he wanted to watch the presentations like a monarch on his throne.

Thanks to Rambo I will have to think hard about supporting players if that is the attitude of a club official

Quite honestly Frankie, I don't believe that whomsoever organises the presentations has any sense of occasion. I could not hear anything where I was standing and I believe that the speaker did have the use of a microphone.I could see nothing anyway but I was prepared to accept that as long as I could hear something.

To do the presentations in such a way is not fair on either the player or the sponsor (or those who stayed behind to watch).

Must Admit Val asked me who he was as he gulped down his food like a Cliftonville Eastern European and, laughed when I told her it was only the kit man.

"But (she said) the way he acts I thought it was at least the Ryman League President."

I had given up posting on the site but after yesterdays fiasco (presentation) I could not let it pass after reading the above. We got a message in the week saying that the u18s/reserve/first team presentation was to be held Saturday at 5 pm. At first I thought the home game must have been cancelled, no one could seriously think that this could happen after a home game, but no. So turning up just after 5 we shuffled around, drinks in hand trying to keep out of the way of those with plates of food or trying to get to the bar. With Folkestone supporters and players still enjoying after match hospitality the presentation started, we think as there was no sign of trophies etc, unless they were in the supermarket carrier bag held by a member of MFC staff, any way we guessed it had started because the big screen was turned off. Some muffled words filtered through to us but had no idea what was being said, speakers to the surround sound pointing towards the speaker! and chatter from those not interested or not aware added to this. It was only when the recipients emerged with their awards etc that we had some idea. With away players/supporters still there I find it difficult to see how those involved were not totally embarrassed. Then in mid flow things seemed to come to a stop, I went to the bar! where I was informed that the presentation had been called off. Why, it was going so well.

It seems that this will now happen next weekend. Some sort of tournament at HP then onto an outside venue, impressive speed organising or was this the plan anyway.Having spent the season viewing the shortcomings in some quarters and voicing them, yesterday sums things up nicely. Strange that like many I will be back next season, Oh no I hear some say.

One more comment I think I should add to the thread.

Who was due to be given Ryan Martin's No4 shirt as that was the one Skinns gave to me.

Did not bother unfolding the shirt until last night and realised I had been given the wrong bloody one.

Having lived through the Thanet Utd days when we were forced by budget cuts to play a team of young local lads (who still carried on playing Sunday League games too) in the Southern League I can accept the on field ups and downs.

When I think that off the field the organisation is woeful I think should I continue.

PS Whoever has the No 3 shirt I would still like it and will swap it for the one I have

I don't think Ryan Martin was sponsored Frankie? I too sponsored Jay as an away shirt but got a home one instead. Am sure someone had already sponsored him for the home one? Maybe I will mail the club to check?
