The Chairman of Margate Football Club has advised Robin Trott that his contract will not be renewed for next Season and that he is not required to work through to the end of his existing contract. Steve McKimm has agreed to care take for the remaining two games of the Season.

The board were unanimous in their agreement that they do not have the confidence in Robin to deliver a team capable of challenging for a play off position next Season.

The timing of this decision is designed to allow the board to receive enquiries from perspective new Managers and also to speak with existing players which they wish to retain.

We would like to thank Robin for all his hard work and

Yes I'm sure they will Alan.My comments on him now that his reign is over.

Trottys remarks in the NLP Daily must have been the last straw for the club.I was for Trotty but only just but even I have to admit what he said in that paper wasn't in his or the clubs best interests.Whether that influenced the clubs decision at this particular time I don't know.

Shame,as Broadstairs Dave says,he has now had two seasons under his belt as a manager & will have learnt a lot from his mistakes & as I saw it he did make some errors of judgement on the field, all i.m.o. might I stress.

Yes,he had restraints & injuries etc etc,I can accept that & for those reasons I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

The season hasn't been that bad a season taking all things into account but it was a season when we could & should have done better with the players we have.

I am saddened by his departure & I personally thank Robin for his efforts but at the same time I am not too concerned that another guy is to come in to take on the challenge.

All fair points Cookie, big challenges ahead next season lots of Kent clubs back with us now all looking for the best players so it is imperative that we get this situation sorted as soon as it is possible, perhaps there is someone in mind who has been without a job for a couple of years?

in my honest opinion i think the club have made the correct decision and i think you need to look over Trotts reign to realise that. I have to say that i am very surprised the club has acted now though and i am saying now that DO NOT want Mckimm as manager, not because i don't trust him as manager but basically i don't a repeat of what hasn't been the most positive couple of months for all connected with Margate.

I am sorry for Trott as he is a very nice guy and when he was appointed i was hoping that this was not going to happen for a long time, but it did and for the clubs ambitions righfully so.

I would like to thank Trott though for saving us from a possible relegation 2 years and wish him the best for the future.

This is a big mistake i think, EXCEPT if Robin wanted to go himself.

I think he brought in some excellent players and developed the youth.

I liked our attacking style and the way we played the ball on the ground.

I liked the bloke and the way he dealt with the fans.

I thought he was unlucky with the defence and its departures.

I did not think we would finish higher than we are now anyway so to me he did o.k.

Everyone will probably go ga-ga over the next guy but how long will he last. I fear a succession of Thanet United managers here. Here one day gone the next.

I would have given him one one more year with PROVISOS.

Some will say he had these before but were they set out in stone.

Once his wife saw the web site i feel things looked bleak for Robin because she would have been upset at some of the abuse and keen for him to go.

I think SM will be asked to do it but i'm not sure he is the right man either.

Well good luck to him for the future. Good blokes can do well and he will.

We do not need SM as manager. We must have someone with experience if we want to move forward. If we recruit an ex player we will be in the same position in two seasons time. I believe that RT may well go away from here with the experience he has gained and be a success somewhere else. We cannot afford to keep training would-be managers.

I do not know whether to be saddend by the outcome or not. I beleive Trott has made some fatal errors and can see where the board has got its evidence from on him not being able to deliver a team for next year, i mean he's taken all season to NOT sign a defender. I feel that the board may have made the right decision and agree with margateshot we do not need to train managers but have a manager who can take us forward. However at the same time I do believe we may be being a little ambitious. We have not done badly this season and yet we are sacking our manager, just outside the play-offs is not a bad finish (however because this is a weird league we are only just safe from a relegation battle).

However a manager cannot stay when he has half of the fans (in a small club) on his back. He has made some fatal misjudgements in the press and despite his great work on bringing up the reserves and youth team he has accidentally slated them in the press.

However I do ask that we do not turn into newcastle and continue to slate managers and believe we are better than we are. I agree that I want the club back up into the Blue Square leagues, but we have to be realistic. The new manager probably wont achieve promotion in his first year, so DONT get on his back. We need to give time for him to build the squad. Ramsgate did with Jim Ward and Man U did with ferguson. Lets be sensible with whoever we get, and be releastic and supportive.

However in the mean time and slightly hypocritical, i am fully against Mckimm managing the club!!!!!!

I've taken plenty of time to mull this whole sorry episode over and can only come up with the decision that this is a TRAVERSTY TO TROTT.

I believe the man was about to build Margate Football Club into a rampant force season on season.

My reasons for this is in the time that football has been back at Hartsdown he has managed to keep players wages down. Brought about a reserve and youth system that we were (and hopefully still are) about to see the fruits. He got the right men in place for bringing these talents through in Mark Weatherly and Steve Moore. Along with Generation sports academy coaching staff from Ursuline School for the youth set up.

He knew that next season he could start to filter these players through into our main team. This in itself is a great stratergy for building up revenue for the club. This is because as these lads come in they introduce their families, in turn their freinds, in turn their work colleagues. The snowball effect has thus taken place and soon Hartsdown will be the IN-PLACE for locals to be on Saturday afternoons.

The reason that this would continue to grow is that these lads waiting in the wings are VERY and believe me VERY good. Best of all as they gain promotion one season they are so young that their growth and strength will have increased enough for them to do it again the following season and so on.

He had no need to go out and bye and he knew it. Personnally I really wished they'd at least have gave him at least one more season to PROVE it. He served his apprenticeship as a manager through a very tough time for the club. Managed to put exemplary foundations at the grass roots and is now not going to be there to enjoy what are going to be "great" times.

Just remember when this all unfolds in front of our eyes over the coming seasons it was because of Trotty and the team he built up at grass roots to take the club forward.

Interesting points.

is this the same Mr Trott who 12 months ago said in the paper that he did not have time to develop and work with youth like laurence Yiga ,and how many reserve games did he actually attend, and who said he had little contact with Mark Weatherley.

Personally, i do not think the continued promotion of youth is the answer-despite what i witnessed on tuesday night-but i am not sure that it is correct to promote Mr T as a standard bearer of youth.

i do not know whether he made those grass roots management appointments himself-but somehow i doubt it.Others will know .

No he did'nt have nothing to do with the youth thats all down to needs of the club to get the 5 a sides up and running. Gen sports have brought this change in club policy by club -schools links which is being promoted by the FA and increases your income stream with special grants etc.

Gen sports made the right dicission in bringing Mark Wevs in as reserve coach as he is like the pied piper of youth due to his Saturday soccer schools that have been running for around 15 years for kids 5 upwards.

You just have to speak to the youth. reserve and 1st team players around the area now and not 1 is sorry trott has gone.

Whats happening now is players from past and present are asking to come back for trials and there seems to be a buzz around this area because both local teams want to be proper local clubs with the heart of the team coming from the fantstic local talent available.

I've been saying for the last 15 years this is the way to go because it bring the community together and in turn the support becomes stronger. Now its come to the stage where its the only option due to money contraints, is it to little to late? only time will tell.
