Congrats to Shots

Much as it pains me as a Torquay fan but, credit where credit's due, the Shots are worthy champions.

We never recovered from our January/February period and, although we always had games in hand (thanks for nothing, Setanta!), we never looked likely to catch them. Their injury time winner at Plainmoor sealed it good and proper.

Overall, they have a strong squad and their goalkeeper could play a couple of divisions up at least. He saved them again last night.

Thank heavens we're finding some form in our last few games and have secured our play-off spot. Whether we start resting players now, who knows. I think we're most likely to do that against Cambridge so that they aren't tempted to crock any of our players. Now, much as I usually deplore teams playing weakened sides, especially if they're playing other teams with something to play for, either promotion or relegation, I feel this time we have to "gan canny" as they say up here where I live these days in exile. There's also the not so small matter of our meeting with you guys at Wembley coming up!

I well remember Tranmere playing an undestrength side against MK Franchise at the end of the season we went down which played heavily on our last day efforts. That's not saying we hadn't played like donkeys for the rest of the season!

But, this is straying off topic. Back to the Shots. The TUFC fans have found everything to do with the club a good experience this season. It started with a 0-3 away win at the Rec on the opening day, carried on through some good banter on the boards, and in our club pub before the game at Plainmoor, and has continued up to this morning where we're happy to congratulate them on their success.

Again, well done the Shots! See you next year, fingers crossed...

I know this goes against the grain, but Congrats to Dartford as well, who effectively became Ryman 1 North Champions last night with AFC Sudbury's defeat at home. Darts are 6 points clear with 2 games left so could mathematically still be caught, but since their goal difference is +17 better than Sudbury's, thats highly unlikely.

The Ryman League Premier could actually have as many as 8 Kent Teams next season, although a couple of them could still be promoted/ relegated. Those in East Kent will have plenty of local derbies to look forward to, with Ramsgate, Margate, Dover and (possibly) Folkestone all involved.Thats about the one thing missing for us these days - those derby games (but I'm certainly glad we're not having to play them at their level!)
