The board results and the defensiveness of the board are correct, but a bit of an own goal. I can't prove it, but I do think people are leaving in droves.

But hey, the sun's shining, and there's a game tonight (on the radio for me). This was never about politics (or money) it's about the Fleet and football.
When I went to Kidderminster, it was cold, we lost and it was a midweek game. I didn't get rained on though, and the food was actually quite pleasant. It's a start; someday I'll qualify as a fan.

And we're all going to Wembley. I might buy a big hand, just to annoy the traditionalists.

I realise that I am a little old, so things take to time to sink in, so help me out here a little please, there are approx 28/30 thousand Myfc members? out of those approx 1000 from Ebbsfleet, I would suggest that, that number is a slight exaggeration, as there is prob far less Ebbsfleet members. So MYFC have a vote and they vote in the candidates of there choosing via there election system, which only MYFC members can vote in. Then imply the vote was unfair as the pepole that wanted elected were not. As MYFC members out numbered local vote by up to 28/1 how can that be true or happen?. So are we now saying that the voting system is not fair or unsafe? If so then team rigging is achievable surely within this system ? If a membership cannot vote in the delegates of there choice with a majority ratio of approx 28/1.what can they vote on thats safe ?

Only 2 or 3 of the 7 person board will be up for election next year, positions 5,6,7 or 6 7, in the voting. So Arithon & Jessica for example who I think were 1 & 2, will be there for 3 year spells.

Bustagut. I don't think anyone is saying that the election was unfair. A strange situation occured whereby MyFC voters thought that local representation would be a good thing, and a large group of voters threw a few votes at a disproportionately few 'locals'. The locals got in and the board (except for one member) is now local. And funnily enough MyFC isn't really too upset about it - there's an assumption that they should all be good people.

In simple terms; We (MyFC) are now run by You (locals) and that's okay. But the quality of some of You (some of our board members) is starting to make You (locals) look bad. The problem's not that they're bad - they just don't have any understanding of the MyFC ethos, and simply can't or won't talk to us. And this split - oversimplified to the MyFC way and the Fleet Trust way - is causing real problems.

....or maybe many of the locals don't agree with the ethos of MyFC i.e. picking the team !

To repeat my opinion:-

a)All new fans welcome, the more the merrier. Also those overseas fans who take the trouble to visit....good on ya !

b)MyFC input welcome plus MyFC elected board. Note - MyFC members voted for the MyFC Board, so who's to blame if you get a Board you don't like ?

c)Members picking the team will never work !! unless you want a local derby against Fleetway Printers (local Gravesend League Div 2 side for those not in the know !) in 10 years time !

By all means make suggestions & let your views be known, but FFS leave the final say up to the bloke who knows about these things....please ?

Cheers,

I have just made that exact point on the MyFC forum. Great minds think alike eh.

Society rules state that those board members stepping down will be decided by drawning lots.

By the way - no one is suggesting that we don't like the board - there has been discussion about the fact that the composition of the board does not reflect the global nature of MyFC and the board actually recognise this and are discussing how to correct this.

The current situation arises over whether a board member (or members) are actually carrying out any of the work they were elected to do.

Which is?

I've never been entirely clear on what the function of the Society Board is.

Is it more than simply overseeing the day to day running of the Society?

And where is this split in evidence.

From Day 1 , The fleet trust have attempted to work with MYFC. This included many late nights building our shop so all the new members could buy merchandise , Answering press enquiries about the club on a daily basis and having several meetings with club and MYFC representatives. This resulted in full backing for MYFC at our AGM.

I am always open to genuine enquires from new supporters when at the ground and these have varied from "Where are the toilets" to full on discussions about the "Soccer" scene in USA and europe.

There are two Fleet Trust board members on MYFC board and several of the others are Fleet Trust members.

Unfortunatley , there is a small minority of idiots who are ruining any chance of this working. They are outspoken in public and critical of every little thing one of whom I am certain was after a power enrichment boost.

By all means come to games , buy your kit , put a point of view across ,enjoy the games but when your belief gets voted against then put up with it. Dont criticise the efforts of others. People like Yorkfox are genuinley trying to help and promote us. Some dont like what he is doing with regards songs and stuff , but hes trying , he has raised awareness and is genuine bloke to chat with. He is showing that this can be a fun project and not a poxy political battle.

I was once told that MYFC was the best valued comedy around. Its so sadly true at the moment.

See you all at the circus Saturday.

Your opinion - we won't know until we try it - next season will be interesting.

Interesting maybe your word for it.......b*llocks would be my word !!

However, if MyFC have total control of picking the team and we finish in the top 8 I'll buy you a beer, but you have to come to San Stonebridge to claim it !

Oooh err missus ! So, a board is democratically elected by the members, yet you want to change it because you ( or whoever the "we" is that you refer to ) do not like the result !!

Hmmmmmmm !!

I know that there are no overseas members on the Board.....but that's democracy for you !

There is healthy debate amongst the locals actually. I had a brief conversation with one supporter who although isnt 100% behind MYFC is happy how things are. We debated the fine points and ended up parting amicablly and likely to have a beer together at the Oxford game.

If you ever get 100% of the locals agreeing then it will be a boring time at the club.

A 5.15 kick off on 26th.....! Bad news for me......I always have a pre match beer and lunch before watching the ( 3pm ) game.

I don't think that the body could take such a drastic change to schedule grin....so I maybe "all over the place" come kick off time ! I'll buy you a beer if I see you ( or see anything come to that !!) Free beer voucher in the Season Ticket pack don't forget !!

Ah.... will the poor i.e. me ! get such vouchers in next season's season ticket ?

Let's kick a*se !!

Cheers,

Probably Warren Barton & Rob Lee. They usually get a couple of ex players to do it.....or is that the BBC ?

Or perhaps it will be like Strictly Come Dancing.............................and going through to next year's Board....(drum role).....it's........DA11..........(cheers & hugs all round ) !
