Slough vs Godalming

Slough 2-1 up. Eventful game so far. Roy Gumbs header equalised for a second penalty in three minutes for the G's as they missed the debateable first.

Slough take the lead after Gumbs kicked in the head and Pritchard converted the penalty.

Only problem is, Bracknell are winning 3-0 against Hillingdon...

Derek Sweetman has started to get the team to belive in them selves and this showed today with a solid performance.

Roy Gumbs was awsome in attack conecting with nearly every ball put into him and then giving the other players a chance to have a go at goal.

The decision to put Jamie Jackson on for the second half was spot on as he pulled off some great saves and kept us in the game - think he should start the remaining games. Was a rumour going round second half that Carroll had broke a bone in his hand at one of the penalties - did not see him holding his hand or asking for treatment.

Rest of the players played well passing the ball around and Pritchard in the middle is making a big difference - knows when to hold and turn, and when to release.

The wings have some speed to worry defences with and then swing the balls into the box - something we have not had for a few years.

Moan time - the ref being escorted off at half time summed up his "contribution" to the first half!

First penalty was a foul on our keeper - ref got that wrong!

Second penalty was clear cut as Lee Carroll clearly fouled the player and was last man back so should have gone - ref got that wrong!

Third penalty relied on the lino to tell the ref what to do!

The refs lack of consistancy was also highlighted by him picking up every foul in the first half and talking to the player - against letting nearly everything go in the second half - looks like his officals talked some sence into him at half time - still one of the worse refs we have had this season - about the same level as Alison!!!!

Three games to go and I can now see us picking up some points.

Carroll definately broke his finger. I spoke to him just before he went off to the hospital.

Great game, with a ref that tried hard to spoil it. The 1st penalty decision was incorrect, but the second was clear cut.

Well done to the players, Derek, and all the staff

Roy will do that teams, he plays with his heart on his sleeve and you rarely get anything but 100% of what he has on the day.

For me its just very disappointing that its taken until his 38th year before his home town club called on his services. I know the level Slough play at has changed drastically now, but I have always felt that if someone had given Gumbsy a chance at a higher level earlier in his career he would have just become better than he is.

a positive way to end the home games for the season which is what everyone deserved

cant really fault anyone. if carroll was injured and didnt tell the bench then that was pretty foolish but he could have easily not realised how severe the injury was.

robbo is growing in confidence and its clear to see

daly was very good once more and his threat at set pieces the other end recently has been top class too. another great header for his goal today

harper done quite well considering he has been out for about 3 or 4 weeks

meddie seems much more at home in defence. no idea if he personally prefers it there

terry davies unfortunately still looks a shade of his normal self but luckily we are not almost fully depending on him as we have at other points this season

brown done his job without being noticed too much which is exactly what you need in the holding midfield role

pritchard has still not played too many games for us but he is one of the best players we have had all season and god have we had a lot. 65 now isnt it. so glad we got him for barratt tbh. again its if only we had a bit more time

gray is so much better playing left wing instead of left back. wherever we are next season he is the kind of player we have to try and keep

feed the gumbs and he will score!!! absolutely brilliant from him again. so wish someone had looked into getting him earlier in the season. couldnt put more effort in if he wanted to. if he plays on next season im praying its with us

this has restored the faith that we might just do it but im still not getting too hopeful. lets hope its still possible come last game of the season. that would do me for now.

again no excuses we must win next week. just worries me i cant see bracknell losing both of their last games

Excellent game, really enjoyable. Gumbs was immense up front, winning everything in the air and if players start to gamble on his flick ons he will be involved in lots of Slough goals.

I thought Laurence Brown had a cracking match breaking things up in midfield and running his socks off.

Pritchard for me though is the stand out player at the moment, so much time on the ball, always neat first touch and looking to pick out the man. And his penalty yesterday was class.

Typically though we win and so do both Andover and Bracknell so it keeps it as you were. Least we can now go to the Isle with a bit of confidence and hopefully we can notch back to back wins.

Slough Town in Europe!!

Meddie played left back with Robbo at right. Harper and Daly were centre halves. Three in the middle were Brown, Riddell and Pritchard. Gray played left and Davies right. Roy Gumbs up front on his tod.
