Pathetic gutless Slough

That's a very good question Gary.

Once SB goes, the new manager will have to prove himself to be better. If the same players remain, but the team's performance improves, the logical conclusion will be that the new manager has 'turned around the fortunes of STFC' (to predict a quote from the local papers!) Yet if the performance does not improve, will the blame be placed at the new manager's feet, or the old players'?

I guess the difference will be if the manager is willing to dole out the criticism and, more importantly, is able to give the players the positive encouragement they need. And it is this last point that explains why players and fans alike were applauding each other after the Yeading match: if the players/manager/fans concentrate on the positive aspects of STFC, performance will improve; but the opposite will apply if everyone only ever looks at the negative.

Despite having said that, I can appreciate that there is very little to seem positive about at the moment, and I'm feeling as despondent as the next fan after that rubbish Yeading result. It would have only taken two or three wins instead of draws from this season, and we'd have been there...

...oh well, guess we'll have to wait for the 2003-4 season now.

The players need as much encouragement as possible from the fans because they get b*gger all from Browne and if we want to keep the likes of Winston and Boot we need to show them our support.

I belive that the players have got the message that it is Browne and his mates we want to get rid of, and the players who want to continue to play for Slough are prepared to wait till Browne is gone so that they can work with a manager who cares about the club, rather than one who only wants to fill his pockets at the cost of the clubs survival.

Lets not forget the number of times Winston has been kept on the bench by Browne when we have been behind, only to be put on for the last few minutes to end up saving the game for yet anoughter draw to add to Brownes collection.

Its not draws which get promotion its wins!!!!!

here's an idea for you rebs....a good one as well......

form a company......'Slough Football Club Limited' mortgage your houses and raise capital....sell shares in the new Company to the fans and raise capital.....take over the FC and its assets and contracts....do a groundshare deal for a few years....if possible find a new home in time......form a legally constituted board of Directors...(shareholders do that) run the club as a business.....get a sponsor....get a new manager.....(there's plenty about)...build the support back up to where it was....6/700 per game (at a fiver a go its good money)......

''f*** off its not possible you may say''......why not...that's how all business ideas come about....FC's are business's...if they are not...they won't survive in the future....

pipe dreams....maybe maybe not.....sometimes you have to get on yur bike and make things happen.....with your support and loyalty its more than possible......

me ol' granny used t'say...

''talks cheap...bricks build 'ouses...''

'appen she wus rite an'all..............

sounds so easy doesn't it! Given that David Brent was made redundant at the end of the last series of THe Office, perhaps we should appoint him as new manager - I doubt even he could be as imcompetent as Browne Owl...... any body else up for singing 'We hate Steve browne' for 90 minutes on Saturday..... would be a good way of saying cheerio to the old stadium

it's funny but the anger has subsided partially, and the old unc has a decent idea, but still it's a tall order, but still possible. hopefully like the mythical phoenix we will rise from the ashes and give southport a good spanking in the conference at haig avenue and send them down.

yes i shall be down for the berko game

it may seem a dream colt 45 (good new name for you by the way) but why not....nothing ventured nothing....well....you know....

there must be experienced businessmen amongst you that could make that dream a reality....from what I hear the 'powers that be' would jump at the chance to dump the club...you could even get a new lease on the ground...has anyone checked that out or are you all listening to the 'Minister For Information....'

Gary, you ask whether the players are immune from criticism. Well, to an extent they should be, with certain Ricky Browne exceptions. It is disappointing that they have been unable to perform consistently but this is because they have not been provided with any confidence from the manager. He drops Sammy, he chops and changes the keeper and it was never clear who his preferred centre backs were. There needs to be competition for places but there also needs to be consistency as well.

If and it remains a big if, we get a new manager and he consistently picks the "first XI" the fans will be able to openly criticise those who under-perform.

The players were good enough but the tactics and inspiration did not come from the sidelines. Having said all that, I still think the players should have done it for the fans despite the managerial handicaps we have.

Official's point about setting up a company called Slough Town Football Club Limited is an interesting one. If you go on to the Companies House Website, there already is a company called that, but it isn't the Company that runs Slough Town Football Club, that is FRUS Ltd. The directors of Slough Town Football Club Limited which was previously called the Scooter Boutique Ltd are from a nominee company which set up a number of companies for Mr Deaner.

However, a check today at Companies House reveals that Slough Town Football Club Limited was dissolved on 11th March 2003, just last month. Why, I ask myself?

FRUS Ltd is still in place, but as ever, is now so far behind in posting its results as required by law, that one has to wonder how much longer this can go on?

So perhaps Uncle Official is right and perhaps the Supporters Association could now register SFTC or make a very small offer for the name and at least get that back where it belongs!

Thanks Shadow,

but, I think you get the same result on any credit checker! Something about barge poles!

Unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem - owning a football club requires you to be able to part with large quantities of dosh without crying as you do it. There aren't too many of those guys around at the moment, so a Trust looks like it may be the only way to at least give the club breathing space.

We already have a perfectly good ground 0- so why can't we keep it? Who is going to tell the fans the truth - why is it inmpossible for the ground built by the sweat and tears of many still stay with SFTC? What would it cost to do so? So many questions, so few answers!
