Pathetic gutless Slough

Chris

Recommended Posts

I try not to slag the side off, but today we were absolutely pathetic. So Hornchurch won? It was still up for grabs if we beat Yeading - you would have thought player would have been working their b*llocks off in order to win the match, but it was like a stroll in the park and I was ashamed of my side.

We've taken between 50-200 supporters to every away game this season outnumbering the home fans - we want it bad -and as we have a chance the team bottle it without even showing some guts and desire to win the match.

Lets be honest though, we don't deserve to be promoted we are sometimes too obvious in our play and have not replaced Veli who could create something out of nothing - were too inconsistant and let in stupid late goals.

Also look at the squad we have - on paper it's probably one of the best in the whole of the Ryman league. We have got players who have left the club and gone onto play for Premier division sides first teams ie McCann (Hendon), Rainford (B Stortford), Blake (Maidenhead), Ellis (Aylesbury) and these are not even first choice players. It's a joke - Ryman managers must look at the league and think how the f*ck are they in that league.

We've bottled it against the top sides and have only beaten Northwood in the league and that's not good enough.

Please keep your promise Browne and leave and let us start again. You have had your time and are clearly not upto it and i'm afraid your staff are not either - we need someone new to come in and take the club by the scruff of the neck. The budget's been high and yet again the team fail to deliver - stand aside and let somebody else have a go...

Now what we got to look forward to - two end of season matches that will send me to sleep, a meeting which will probably be moved again no doubt, no ground and maybe Harrow (what a joke), no news if we have a backer next season and more than likely another summer of uncertainty and if we are back next season what then - Tilbury on a cold November night in front of one man and his dog with the players not performing cos it's too cold. We don't deserve this sh*te.

Rant over - for now

A p8ssed off Chris

Fair comment Chris.

Living up here in the frozen North I haven't got back to see the Rebels too often, but they have never really played as a team in the games I have seen. Occasional flashes of good play as 3 or 4 players link up well, but no obvious evidence of a masterplan or even tactics. Given our budget & support we really should be doing better. I think all the Rebels fans who have turned up in large numbers throughout this season deserve praise, and certainly a better team effort. All I can hope is that this summer sees our situation sorted out, and a fresh new start for the club. Whatever Steve Browne MUST go as he has promised. He has relegated us and failed to regain our status despite a budget larger than most clubs at this level. He can't even claim to have been unlucky or close. We simply have not performed as a team this year. If he stays & the club are not playing in Slough next year and not doing well then we will start losing support next year and then the future looks bleak.

Sorry to add to the doom & gloom, but it's hard to feel optimistic tonight.

On a positive note can I thank the contributors to the website & this forum for keeping me in touch with this season's events.

Cheers,

Roger

I can only agree with the above comments - But how diferent it could have been if we had only won a couple of the games that were drawn, due to giving away silly goals in the first few minutes of a game and then having to catch up and be grateful for a draw.

Then there were games like the Wingate game recently where we fielded a "second" team due to illness when Browne should have got the game called off - inepet management.

There were also games where our main strikers, Boot 29 goals & Winston 23 goals, sat on the bench for most of the game whilst the Browne family and freinds let in goals.

Todays game confirmed Brownes incompertance by starting with a weak midfield and then making the substitutions at half time that should have been the starting line up.

Then to cap it all he replaces our top scorer like for like rather than going for three up front in a bid to win the game - is Browne in conspiricy with Deaner to stop us going up so that Deaner does not need to spend to much money next season and be able to build his houses/superstore on a vacant site?

Browne should resign NOW if he has any honour and respect for the club or is he just filling his own pockets?

BROWNE OUT NOW

Never rated Browne in any role in management but do the decent thing and slate him when he deserves it. You clearly had enough registered players to play the Wingate game so there way you would ever have got the game called off at this level! As I said, give him stick when it's due by all means, just make sure you actually know wwhat you are talking about when you do! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I got the impression that they heard the Hornchurch result from earlier in the day and decided the season was over . Tho' people will argue but i thought Sammy & Mets were the only ones trying .

Sorry scouter but we signed on a new player in order to have someone fit on the bench. The manager and the coach were also on the bench and they should have torn up their registration long ago. And also, a few others could have fallen victim to flu or the pitch could have been watered. This kind of thing happens in football see Boro v Newcastle. Be more realistic.

Chris, spot on, see comments on another post. The midfield were particularly poor today providing no service for boot or sammy. Whilst wilko and mets did their job properly they are too samey. We need a spark. Browne has failed to replace Veli and cannot inspire a team. And lo, the season was ballsed up.

We can only hope that the silver lining from this spineless anticlimax to the season will be Steve Browne delivering on his promises for once & actually going. How a manager with so much talent at his disposal can provide so many clueless, tacticless & hopeless performances is a total mystery. Go now, & don't try & con us with pathetic transparent 'the players begged me to stay excuses'. Here's hoping for a brighter future.

sorry, but i've only had the chance to watch the demise of my hometown club from afar, but f%ck man, am i pissed off. I've been reading these forums from when they were held on the official slough website, and to watch this demise since even 1998, it's been like a relative getting cancer and watching it slowly eat away at them. it makes me f%cking sick. i'll be a rebel til i die, but the way that the current administration have f%cked this club so much that we won't even be playing in slough next season?

Slough Town not playing in f%cking slough? we might as well all go support some other dipsh%t club in the ryman mightn't we? This town could CONFORTABLY support a Nationwide League club if f%cking sh%tholes like Torquay, Barnsley and f%cking Peterborough can?

I'm so f%cking mad I could literally be sick, but then again, we in Slough always attain to be something better than Slough...

Ever thought of getting some sense pf perspective...how can you wish people dead...save your bile and venom for something important not the state of a semi pro football club....Whatever your feelings for Browne and co you are well over the top in this condemnation and should have a bit of thought before you type this rubbish.

I do have to agree there. Maybe it was a bit OTT with some of the statements with a misdirected show of passion for the club.

darebelboy, I hope you can re-create this passion for supporting the club over the summer and beyond into next season with the possibility of a supporters trust being formed.

agree with the last three posts...some perspective is required at these low moments in a football fans life....

you aint out of it yet although virtually impossible......I accept that...

you have had a good season but I understand that your history perhaps clouds that...nontheless...a good campaign and some bloody good fun along the way........

this season you have had to deal with other off the field issues which surely must effect the management of the club and the team......perhaps the best thing that can come from this campaign is a clearer way forward for the club and a more certain future......

We shall certainly remember the crack with you guys this year and whatever happens...we shall stay in touch....count on it.........(unless you ban the ol' uncle and then we might have to demonstrate outside the gates of Slough Town Hall)

there's always someone loses out in a promotion race and as promotion races go this has been a very good one.....and its not quite over with yet......we'll see.....we'll see.....

keep the faith and keep the perspective.....its only a game of football.......who said that......!!!

I shall be watching your close season progression very closely and wish you all the luck in the world in your attempts to rebuild.....

in the meantime...we need 2 points......cheer us on against Berko Rebels......nice to do it at home in the right way.........

Uncle wrote "this season you have had to deal with other off the field issues which surely must effect the management of the club and the team.."

The trouble is Unc that we have been affected by off the field issues for FIVE BLEEDING YEARS since we lost Conference position.

The pile of cack that came in to keep the club going turned out only to be experts in getting it wrong and p-ing off so many people you wouldnt believe it. It would look like a comedy if we weren't talking about our beloved Rebs. They came in with the support of the fans and a real chance but managed to [****!!****] so much up.

If they had got even half of off the field issues right we wouldnt be homeless thats for sure. And we should never have got ourselves relegated in the first place.

I tell you, if someonme wrote a book of the last say 6 years of STFC, anyone outside nonleague football and even a few in it would say "thats unbelievable.:

Sadly all true and its happened to us.

Uncle's right

It IS (mathematically) possible for us to reach second slot still.

All we need to do is win our remaining two games by a margin of 6 goals, and for Hornchurch and Hemel to lose for the rest of the season! Easy...

I can sympathise with darebelboy45 (although my choice of language would be somewhat different). STFC have been in a bad way before now, but what is so annoying is how close we came to promotion. If we'd ended up mid-table, feelings would not be so high, I'm sure. But we have finished within spitting distance of promotion and failed by such a small margin.

What I find hard to understand is how Slough can play so poorly, and yet still finish so near the top? It would only have taken a couple of wins in the last two months to have secured promotion with ease. And yet it didn't happen.

Let's hope for better next season - different manager? different ground? different control (Supporters Trust?)? different players?

Who knows? But what Slough does need is different luck! (It's about time something went right for this club).

Depressed.

maybe i should have saved my bile til i woke up this morning, but the point remains the same. who outside of the three hundred or so who regularly turn up wekk in, week out know we have a club? and how many of them care anyways? from screwed up chairmen and biased media reporting, we've been against it from day one, and i don't see any white knight on the horizon any time soon.

yes the language was harsh, perhaps a bit too harsh, but that's in my nature to say what i feel, not sugarcoat it in anyway shape or form. i'm not going to apologise for what i said because it's all true.

if i had a million to spend would i even bother buying a club which has no home ground, no plans in place for a home ground? and the finger of blame has to be placed squarely at the feet of the chairman for not even trying to sort something out, and the manager for collecting his paycheck and doing not much else in between...

fuzzy logic, bling passion or coldhearted realsim? i'm not saying anything anyone doesn't believe or already know.

ps i'll be back in the summer, and hopefully this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach will have gone by then

Liam, have you been out drinking with the Villa fans again?????????? Joking aside I agree with you on most of what you've said buddy, though I've not been angry about it because its been inevitable for the last month or so. I actually expected us to lose to Yeading as it would be synonymous with the rest of the season, that when we need a victory we vanish, replaced by a bunch of no-hopers playing to the strength of our manager. I wouldn't want to wish harm on the manager, but perhaps a court order banning him from Wexham Park or wherever we play next season is requited to prize the [****!!****] away from our club

The thing is, if we could change the manager over the summer, but keep the players, would the player still be immune to criticism next season as they have been during this campaign?

To see people clapping players off on Saturday was a joke. Fair enough to Sammy and Daly for coming over to applaud what in reality was a poor showing from Slough fans in terms of encouragement, but there was no need to applaud what was a very poor all round performance from all the players.
