From the Guardian web site a blogger on there

 

"On a side note, swimming has to be just about the toughest sport out there in terms of training and coaching. The relentless swimming up and down 50m laps, same scene pre-dawn in, post-dawn out out. The loneliness. Name another sport in which teenagers in their early and mid-teens are expected to rise at 3am 6-7 days of the week to train."

 

I have seen this lad and his parents do that training and I think this is a real achievement!

 

Some of our overpaid footballers could take a leaf out of this particular book.
