Change of Kick Off time for final game.

It is there but you have to scroll down a lot past all the Email adresses etc.

IFS AND BUTS

It has now been indicated that the proposal to start the final games of the season (on Saturday, April 26th) in the BSP at 5.15pm is only provisional. The change was proposed because Setanta TV apparently has plans to cover a BSP game live at 5.15pm on the last day of the season and, if this happens, all fixtures in the BSP would have to kick off at the same time on that day. However, it now emerges that the final decision on kick-off time is contingent on the outcome of the Champions League games this week which will apparently determine which Premier League matches are to be televised on 26th April. That in turn will somehow affect what coverage is given of the BSP. So Alty spectators heading for Weymouth on 26th April now need to put their travel plans on hold until a decision is made by the authorities...

It has nothing to do with our game v Alty but I never said that it did. The story is about the final game of the season on the final day, we're at home to Oxford and Alty are away to Weymouth. The story just happens to be on Alty's site.

The story has now moved to under today's update and is entitled "If's and buts...."

It talks about the games on the final day of the season, in which we play Oxford and not Altrincham, and it says that the matches could be played at 17:15 but this depeneds on what happens in the Champions League. The following Tuesday and Wednesday are Champions League dates so whoever plays in the Champions league on the Tuesday in this week can not play on the Sunday.

Chelsea are scheduled to play Manhester United on that weekend and if both qualify for the next stage of the Champions League then the game between the two will have to be on the Saturday and the TV Companies will not be able to resist showing the game so it'll either be on Saturday at 12:45 or 17:15. If it is 17:15 then Setanta won't risk competing with Sky by putting a game in our league up against it.

However....

There is one thing that the TV Companies might not have thought about. The game is at Stamford Bridge and seeing how it is such a massive game I can't see the met allowing it to take place at 17:15. They have done it before, Chelsea v Blackburn earlier in the season and Arsenal v Chelsea a few years back both got the okay. That is going on the proviso of course that it's the Chelsea v Manchester United game that they want to show, on the BBC website Derby v Arsenal is scheduled for the Monday night which is a regular Setanta slot.

So I wouldn't book anything up just yet.

If it was re scheduled to 17.15, I wonder what stance the local Police would take ? Oxford have a large away following and generally the last game of the season attracts a bigger than normal home following, especially with the excitement of Wembley approaching. Can't imagine they would be too pleased with a 17.15 ko ? Much more time for pre match drinking......and you know President Brown wants us not to drink...or smoke.....or enjoy ourselves under any circumstances !!! I forsee a postponement on the grounds of the serious national threat of people having a good time !!! grin

Cheers,
