Woking Game

Let us not forget we have a few more games before the league season is out.

Apart from the usual p*ss takes of variations of our name through the ages ( there goes another rib !), the view from the Woking forum is that most of them expect us to win. Hope they are ( playing their Cards ) right ! Nothing for a pair, not in this game !.....oh sh*t, I am doing it now !!

Cheers.....

We mauled them at their place, on tv, had a perfectly good goal disallowed, but still lost to a piece of great finishing, so the Fates should be with us this time.

Except .. Crawley totally outplayed us at our place in front of the Setanta cameras, yet we managed to sneak a great goal & the win. Back at their place, when you'd have backed them to be gagging for revenge, they rested key defensive players, with a vital FA Trophy game coming up & we were the only team in it ....

Still think we'll win.

I thought the performance at York City last week was sound and didn't think the result was in doubt at any time. However, the mid-week hicup probably shows that we need more strength in depth. The frustrating thing is, we all know if we can put out our strongest side, we're more than a match for any club in this league.

Should win today though!

I think you're absolutely right - we've an efficient, sound side, it's just our lack of depth that lets us down. Ought to be a good result for us today - let's hope all the other b*gg*rs lose!

Maybe just maybe, now that it is assumed by most, that we are not really serious play off contenders, that the team may relax and play better football, the team has had a lot of pressure of late, what with the cup run and the play offs. All these pressure are really off except playing for there place at Wembley. That will be more important nearer the time. So I am hoping we will play good stress free open football. In saying all that I also hope it does not have the reverse effect and they take there foot off the pedal.

You are more sporting than me. Felt we murdered them 2nd half & they were hugely fortunate to get anything from the game - pretty sure their goal was offside. To be fair, thought they looked as if they could be dangerous, but they had so little of the game in the 2nd half, when we had them well pinned back, that they did not really deserve the chance to prove they could finish if given the chance.

Yet another last minute goal, one day we will learn to close a game out..... Could have done without some speculative shots when other players better placed, but hey ho, roll on Tuesday.. as shots fan predicted they could win league on Tuesday if Torquay drop points, so plenty to play for, lets hope we dont give them the pleasure

There was only one team in it for much of the game but we couldn't turn the posession and pressure into goals and we paid for it in the end. We played OK but second half we tried to over elaborate in front of goal rather than test the keeper. Thought Charles was outstanding and my MOM, McPhee also did well playing up front and Hearn showed some confident touches when he came on.

I was level with play and it was a yard offside.Having said that, we took our foot off the pedal during injury time. The most pleasing thing about the game was that we tried to play football, but our finishing was poor, because we had no goal scorers on the pitch. If we spend our money from the trophy final and get charlie back we will win the league next year.

I don't need to post anything after that !
Except this ... is Darius out of contract with Brentford at the end of this season ? Or here to get matches under his jockstrap ? Because I think we've got a serious need for him after this season .

Yes, apart from that lovely strike that ended up in the back of the net there didn't seem much chance of anything else crossing the goal line and all the time we can't score we have to worry about killer breakaway goals

There was a poem by one of the Lake poets I think that said something like:-

Oh to be in England now that Spring is here

No doubt the ex Grammar school mob could confirm or correct ?

Sounds like total b*llocks to me !

We could do worse than sign Charlie Hearn as well. A very steady ship in midfield, good control, good vision, and prefers to play the short accurate pass and keep possesion rather than speculate with hopeful 40 yarders.

With him, Bostwick, Long, McPhee, Barrett, we would have a very strong looking midfield next season.

If only we could get a couple of strikers to help out Akinde.
