i personally do not believe geography has anything to do with it:

 

Stones have announced the signing of Hampton and Richmond's towering centre half Rob Paris, and he makes his debut in the game at Maidstone today.

 

Paris has made nearly 100 appearances for Hampton, his last coming in their one all draw with Havant 2 weeks ago.

There couldn't be an easier start to a debut than facing Leyton.
Wouldn't take a lot to get top marks against them.
