You may well roll your eyes Hornie. But all I was doing was trying to defend a young player from any criticism.

I will also defend your right to your views (even if they are totally different from mine) but , as i was there also last night I have a right to mine.

By the way were you supporting Richborough United last night as they played in yellow.

Yup, I liked that kit. As I said I was not having a go at Kenny-I thought the youngsters did reasonably well and also I'm not one of the boo boys as I see it as de-constructive at the time but on here I'll say if I'm unhappy. I'm on the verge of joining Pagey, WelshBob etc....by not attending and that will be more harmful to the club. I need to be impressed on Saturday!

Young Jason could have been better in that position last night if the lad had been given the service, instead it was turned into a packed centre.

The problem last night was not the players, the management on the night or Matt in goal, it was fitness or lack of it. Last night was a lesson in what we need to be looking at, where we need to be. We need a few friendlies scattered through the pre season/season for our youngsters against teams( Milwall/Charlton /Gills & Orient Youth) like these, to keep them and the management focused on where we need to be.

Personally i do not think the Kent league is good enough for us. We need more of a challenge if we are to progress the youth.

Any Ideas?.

Sorry i did mean a side that was too strong for us, as they did have some good players in that side and i personally felt that most players did try their best. I felt the only who really looked as if he couldn't be bothered was Dan Young. You'll probably come back and say that he was our best player wink

Not at all levels Micheal. I believe we were playing a full time team whether, all 1st teamers or not. As they don't have a reserve or under 18's team i am sure anyone of those youngsters are capable of playing in the 1st team else they wouldn't be there.

As in any walk of life you only perform to the limits to which you are pushed. Our youngsters are as fit and in fact fitter than most teams in their league. This is why i believe they need a game against opposition of the quality of Ebbsfleet last night on a regular basis. I am sure the Fleet would oblige as well as it gives there lads a good run out. Also they know we are a clean team that likes to play football not, Kick and run.

I must admit i have had fitness concerns with certain members of the 1st team.

One things for sure, things need changing & now is the ideal time!

I heard a few days ago that Quain is injured at the moment with a hernia. A shame.

What a poor poor game that was last night. Peters simply must start on the wing on Saturday against Harlow. If Trott seriously thinks we still have a chance of making the play-offs, we have to go on the attack from the start. But, to be honest, we are staying in this league next season, so if Pinns is injured, let's give Joe Taylor a chance up front alongside Rob Haworth. Failing that, at least lets get a good look at Nick Moir, who is deserving of a chance as well.

Got to agree with you Blueblood Jason didn't get the service he deserved. Not once in the 1st half did I see a single ball get crossed in from the left hand side. Jason made many runs, totally losing his markers to the edge of the area, yet no-one could play him in. When told to tuck in on the No. 7 he did so and totally stopped the 7 playing. Unforetunately this allowed for overlapping runners down our right side. No fault of Jason's as he was under instruction. Shame it was him to come of at half time when Jackson was able to play down the left side and the ball started to be delivered. For us that have been lucky enough to have watched him play before we know what an exciting talent he is.

Plus Kenny for the time he came on at the end looked sharp, ran hard and had a snap shot that on another evening would have found the back of the net. He closed their defenders down quickly and didn't give them time on the ball. Something that had been quite noticeable earlier on in the evening. I know that a lot is said of our defence on these forums but the attackers must relize that they are our 1st line of defence. With a bit more pressing from them , like Kenny was doing, maybe we wouldn't conceed so may goals that we blame on "our defence".

Got to say "WELL DONE" to Trotty for showing faith in these young lads and giving them their 1st insight into the 1st team set up. I think they both played well and exactly what was asked of them and should both come on for their experience.

I hope Trotty posts a few words to see what his thoughts were on the young lads.

I did. From Ryan Martin. And the cross was excellent. Shame there wasn't a Rob Haworth on the end of it.

Great post though. I hope the two lads have learnt from their experience in the first team, and are now more fired up than ever to show they should be there every week.
