Aldershot 5-1 St. Albans City

Oh dear oh dear. Such a shame your lot folded so easily to us. It was quite fun at 2-1. And you were singing a little bit too. That was funny.

Your problem was you let it slip in the last 15 minutes. Your team is made up of good players, but no brilliant ones, and a loss of concentration is costly for you lot. Look at our first 2 goals.

Your number 4 (Evans??) helped us a lot. He's not very good. Is he a regular in your side?

To be honest, we're ready for Conference football. I say this not because of our football, but because of the way the club is run. I was at your place for the December game, and I've been a couple of times when the shots weren't playing. Our approach is more professional. Look at your stewards. From what I could see, you got some in for our game, but at other times, they're all so old. Most of them have white hair, and one's a cripple. The one that stands in front of the tunnel, is that all he does? He wouldn't be too great in a crisis. The way your club is run as a football club is definitely more suited to Rymans league football than Conference football.

To all the EFM boys. It's been a pleasure, but hopefully I won't be seeing you lot for a long time.

Sorry boys, I don't normally enjoy lording it. But the cockiness of your so called 'EFM' lot before the game warrants some serious lording.

You were well and truely stuffed. The feeling was made all the more special by the reaction of all your EFM 14 year olds after scoring first. Perhaps if you lot learnt not to be so cocky, you wouldn't get replies like this.

Nice to see some away support though. Shame you left your voices in St Albans!!!!!

Are you the chap I saw in the Member's Bar yesterday with "ATFC Wellard" tattooed on your head? Didnt that hurt?

Now now, goading St Albans after yesterday is not very sporting...about as sporting as that EFM pillock who posted so regularly on Shotweb this year! (OK fair enough then!!) FUNNY, no sign of him today!

No offence St Albans, thanks for the games, but hope that we do not have to go there again...unless you get in the Nationwide League!

shotsfan. Yes, I am the one with ATFC Wellard tattood on my head. It didn't hurt, no.

webbo and YELLOW ARMY 2003. What did I do to upset you? As I said, it was a shame that Albans folded in the last 15 minutes, as especially in the first half you had been playing quite well. McLean is obviously a quality player, and your defence were unable to cope in the latter stages.

Seriously, the stewarding. It's a small point, but it shows the difference between us and you. Look at our stewards compared to yours. If you were to have a heart attack, or a fight, or a fire, where would you feel safer, at the Rec or at your ground?

Once again. Your number 4, Evans (Evans?). Is he a regular player? He didn't look too great.

Goading? When was I goading? Honestly. Seriously. when was I goading?

See you all in the Conference, or the Leauge, or maybe not!!

At least our stewards are above the age of 14! The ones that we saw on the pitch in the second half yesterday were barely out of junior school!!

I certainly wouldnt feel safe if I had a heart attck around them!

Your stewards all seemed over the age of 65. All of them. Are you sure you aren't talking about the ball boys?

I think you know as well as me that our stewards are more ready for the Conference than your stewards would be. When I was at your place, I saw a steward that had a walking stick and had trouble walking well (ie he walked with a limp). Was he really a steward? How quickly can he react in an emergency?

Well. I don't really know where to start with this one. I expect AFF will have a few words to say on the matter having donned the orange jacket once or twice this season (and he certainly does not have white hair).

Our chaps aren't all over 65 as you imply. If you had looked a little closer you would have seen a couple of younger ones. Not that we need too many stewards for our usual gate of 500-odd, only when we get invasions from Hampshire and we have to pay x thousand pounds for the presence of police officers because of the likelihood of trouble-makers arriving.

Anyway, thank you for your concern, your application will be put before the board at the forthcoming AGM and you will be notified in due course if you have been successful.

that may be so. but then again Is the team? Some teams promoted, focus on how things may be on the pitch. you seem a bit more concerned about how your stewards will manage. Well it's only going to be for one year eh! and I don't mean promotion <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

First of all these stewards that stood between your supporters and the blazing squad (???) looked a few years past their sell by date? That's hardly the case for all our stewards, is it? Look at the ones that stood in front of the EB. They are old enough to be your stewards' sons. If the steward that you have who has a walking stick supported Aldershot, would he be a steward? I doubt it.

The steward thing is a minor point. I am simply saying that ATFC are more prepared for Conference football than you are at the moment. And the pitch looked in fine condition to me.

I don't want to say too much here.

The Stewards at Aldershot on Saturday did a thoroughly professional job. How many? 30 or so? They were being properly briefed in the cellar under the stand before the game and, if you noticed, the stewards in front of the East Bank, quite rightly, were watching the crowd, not the game, for the full first half.

[Oh, by the way. The one who was just our side of the segregation fence was 18/20 not 14.]

In my view, the steward behind the open end in the second half was a minute or so slow to call for assistance when those children arrived, and when 2 more stewards appeared those kids should have been 'moved on'. In fairness, they called for a policeman.

It does help, of course, if a club has regular gates of 2000+, firstly financially and secondly from necessity.

However, the need for proper stewarding is very important whether the average gate is 500 or 2000 and it's not good enough at Clarence Park. I'm sure that the matter is in hand.
