Hotel Advice

I'll try this again. The one I posted last night in the server switchover either didn't work or can't be opened now.

 

My son and I will be in England for 4 Fleet games soon: home to Woking and Aldershot, and away to Halifax and Droylsden.

 

I'm trying to decide whether to stay in London and make the train to Northfleet on game days, or stay in Gravesend or Margate to save a little money and take the train into London for sight-seeing.

 

Anyone familiar with the Henry Short Stay in Margate? (The one in Gravesend can't accommodate us for the 11 days we'll be in England.)

 

Is there frequent train service between Margate and Northfleet?

 

Any advice you can give will be very appreciated. And see you on the 5th!

To be honest , you are probably best to base yourself around Gravesend. Trains from Margate will require a chnage at Faversham , a change at Rochester and then another change at Gravesend (Northfleet is a small station). You can get a bus from Gravesend Station to the ground. There are also more regular trains from Gravesend to London and a good coach service.

 

The best Western in Gravesend is about three miles from the ground and next to a Premier Travel Inn(Called Gravesend south). There is another Premier Travel (gravesend)inn nearer the town centre .

 

Alternatively , look at Hotels around Dartford as the links to london are godd from there as well.

If you are depending on trains, aim for Dartford. Much bigger station with more frequent and direct routes to London and to Northfleet.

 

For hotel advice - try the MyFC place... A few of them have been down and stayed, so will be able to give you a much better opinion than those of us who (probably) have never stayed in them! (You never know, they might have negotiated a special rate!!)

Don't stay in Margate whatever you do!

 

It's miles away.

 

Harry J Allstars is looking into doing both Halifax and Droylsden. It may be worth seeing what he has sorted out for the northern part of your trip.
