Todays game

Bloody draw, which I believe puts us in the bottom 3.

Thier goal in the 1st minute seemed to be offside an out 3rd goal was disallowed for some unknown reason.

I think the guys generally played well, but I thought the officiating was piss poor.

I understand the Barnet player who was taken off had a broken collarbone, hope he'll be OK

We stay just out of the bottom 3 on goal difference.

We HAVE to win our last two games to be sure of staying up, no margin for error left now.

3rd Goal was disallowed for offside, (we had the linesman who understood offside for the whole match again)

Thought that Mr Singh had another good game today, in spite of his two linesman. When the Barnet player shoved the lino, right in front of Andy Ford, I thought for sure he would get a red card, but unfortuanately the lino told the ref (about 10 feet from me) the push was nothing !!!

Sorry to hear about Che's bereavement, but the plus side was that Budgie and the Beast looked very good up front. Where was Louie today ? With him sitting behind Liam and Kevin, we would look very lively up front.

Thought Tos faded in the 2nd half , looked a bit tired and probably needed a change. Sadly The Duke looked at fault for the 2nd goal, caught out on the right wing, leaving Burton (who had a superb

game) trying to cover on his own in the middle. If any Barnet fans log onto this site, out best regards for a speedy recovery to your keeper and the lad with the broken leg.

yeah i could not believe that barnet player did not walk, he shoved the lino, also before that he tried to con the ref by just falling over when noone was near him and clutch his face. Believe our first half performance was good but the second half lacked a tiny bit of imagination again . MY motm had to be Liam for his non stop energy again, althogh he did scuf 2 good chances. Burton also played well.

I agree that Liam played well, winning virtually everything in the air and deserved to be awarded MOTM. He was obviously highly committed today. I also thought that Budge played well but looked a bit nervous after either killing the ball and bringing it under control or collecting a pass. He showed some deft touches but sadly had no real attempts on goal to write home about. Evans was seen on the terraces before the start of the game with a hand bandaged up. I thought that the team played reasonably well. I can't say if Francis was at fault for their second goal as has been suggested, but you have to admit it was a terrific move and (unfortunately) the best of the 4 goals. Shame we can't score like that! Also thought that Mr Singh was far too lenient at times ( I thought he had left his cards at home) and that we had numerous calls for a penalty harshly rejected with a lot of blatant pushing going unpenalised in and around the box. Six points from our last 2 games is a tall order, but if we truly want to play Conference football next season then we have got to give it 100% in both matches. We want the team to win so if they do too then let us all go for it. UP THE FLEET!!!!

Well played today boys i thought (to use an old clishe) they gave 110%. I think that we ought to of got a win due to are superb first half performance. The second half was not as good, but the lads still deserved a win. Well done boys.

I thought the support from behind the goal was excellent, lets just keep this up on Monday against Farnborough and next Saturday aginst Halifax at Stonebridge Road.

From that game i have 2 moans:

1. The lino's were terrible (to put it nicely). How on earth did the lino not put his flag for thier 1st goal. How did the lino put his flag up for our dissallowed goal, if it wasn't for them 2 dreadful faults GNFC might have won and deseved & much needed 3 points.

2. Another moan was the racist abuse directed towards the ref Mr. P.J Singh how i thouht had a good game. This abuse came from a small majority fans directly stood behind me, this happened most of the game and i think it was totally uncalled for. So for next time lets have less abuse and more encoragement for da boyz.

PS. Junior Agogo is a different class, hes superb + hope Frazer Toms recovers asap.

Disappointing not to win having led today, but as previously mentioned, Barnet's second goal was excellent and something that we struggle to produce without Bentley in the side. On the bright side though, thank god Wilkerson made that fine one-on-one save after just a few minutes with the score already at 1-0 (an unlucky and rather scrappy goal in comparison to their second!), otherwise we would surely have slumped to defeat.

Also, I thought that Liam and Budge looked like a decent forward pairing today, which hopefully bodes well for Farnborough. The lads undoubtedly need all the support they can get on Monday, so let's get as many fans as possible down there for another crucial match. COME ON YOU REDS!

P.S. Thanks Chester for really giving your all against one of our rivals at the bottom for the second time in a week. Oh no, wait, you're already in the play-offs, aren't you? mad.gif

Despite the result I thought today's game was a vast improvement on last week. It would seem we have the ability to play better against teams that are higher in the league, but get bogged down against teams that are lower. Therefore, we should get the required results from our two remaining games. Budge and Hatch looked like one of the better strike force pairings we've had this season. Kevin obviously wants to prove himself for the club

As for Dave M's comment about Andy and Phil, I honestly didn't think Andy was there today, it seemed to me that Phil was doing all the shouting.

As for the other results not going our way. Well if we were in a guaranteed play-off place I doubt that Andy would put out a full first team side at this time of the season.

Not being doom and gloom, but looking reality full in the face, I believe that we'll be swapping leagues with Aldershot next Saturday. The prospect of the Ryman League next season isn't so bad, unless you've only been following the 'Fleet' since the end of last season, in which case you may think it's an embarrassment, and we'll probably see you next when we get back into the Conference. Most of us have seen the 'Fleet' play in the Ryman before, but I follow Gravesend and Northfleet Football Club, not Andy Ford or Che Stadhart or Liam Hatch. They're only a small part of the history of the club, which I am proud to say I have been a very small part of, too. Wherever we end up, I'll still be down at Stonebridge Road or wherever Gravesend and Northfleet are playing on a Saturday afternoon.

COME ON YOU REDS!

Oh, I don't know I.C. frown.gif The difference of one or two points come next Saturday and next season we could either be facing, say, Exeter and Bristol Rovers, or instead Bognor and Lewes! Won't make any difference to me turning up every week, but it'd be a crushing disappointment.

Sadly, I don't think we're doing enough to keep our heads above water. Our form must be the worst of our relegation rivals and games are fast running out. Leigh winning at Hereford was the final straw!

Should we go back to the Rymans I think it is a given that 400 of the new " Gravesend till I die " mob won't be turning up, what is more interesting is how many of the players will be off as well.

I think we can depend on the likes of Jacko, Nick Burton, Rob Owen etc but who would put money on Kwashi, Hatch, Bentley, and Duku staying.

If we went down and kept the same side and the same support we would enjoy another brilliant season but as we all know that won't happen.

Can anyone who was standing at the side confirm if the third "goal" was offside ? I was behind the goal and it didn't look like it to me !!!

Thought Mr Singh had a good game again....shame that both Linesmen were somewhat lacking. I am sure some some of record was set by one of the linesmen for how long he had his flag raised.....all the time their Keeper was getting treatment before going off !!...What's the point of that ?

Might have been worth putting a fresh pair of legs on in the last 5 or 10 minutes ?? Wilkins up front perhaps ?

Cheers,

Not sure about the worst form bit - we've actually only lost 1 of the last 6 - problem is we've also only won 1 of them.

Woking have only drawn their last 8 I believe, so they havent done any better.

Southport are struggling, & although they have Hereford tomorrow. they then face Stevenage away on Saturday They may get something from Hereford, but Stevenage, despite yesterdays loss, will be tough.

And Telford have 2 tough games as well - Margate can do us a favour tomorrow by winning at Telford and then they play Woking away on Saturday. If they only get 1 point from those 2 games, then 1 win would see us above them.

So, its not all doom and gloom - there are other sides equally worried, even if we have points to make up. And at least Benno will be available for that last game against Halifax (although lets hope we get a win tomorrow, and other results go our way(Woking and Leigh defeats ideally) as well, so we wont need Saturday)

I actually thought Mr Singh had a good game as well - I thought he got all 3 penalty appeals about right - Tostao was looking for a penalty, the "handball" was right in his view, and the last claim wasnt either.

We played well for 60 minutes, thn lost our way & their second goal was always likely to come. I think we barely got going again afterwards (lack of match fitness taking its toll on Budge & Liam perhaps?)

Hmmmm - home before midnight on ALL away games!

Seriously, it will be crushing for most of us if we do make the proverbial drop.
Not the end of the world, but how many teams bounce back and make an immediate return?

If somebody said we would keep the players we have and the support we have - remember the budget is based on 1,000 a game - we had that during our promotion run in - then I could see us making an immediate return.

I think that the players should stay - they as a team have got us in this situation ; if we get relegated then they should hang about to get us straight back up - unlikely realistically, but not beyond the realms of possibility.

Still.....what will be will be.

Some great points made above lads. It will certainly be a massive setback for the club if we do get, 'R' word, but come what may I will be renewing my season ticket for my fix of the Fleet. After experieincing the Conference it's definatley where I want to be watching the mighty reds. Lets just pray that we can beat Farnborough tomorrow, Leigh lose and Woking lose or draw and I'm sure we'll be safe, especially as our goal difference is a lot better than the other teams around us.

In respect of Hatch and Budge, I thought they looked one of the better combinations we have tried this season, especially Liam winning pretty much everything in the air. In relation to the comment about Fordy, I agree he looked like he wasn't interested which is probably not true but could it be that he has just run out of ideas?

Y cant gravesend produce the performances vs Yeovil, Nuneaton, Morecombe against Leigh, Kettering, etc? All 3 of the officials were terrible, J.singh is blind. I counted 7 occasions when their defenders were touching Liam and Budgie up, and as for the Li****an,. he was CraP!!!!!!!How many r we takin 2 f'boro? A double decker=?We hav 2 win BOTH of our remainin games, or we will be playing-C****Y BIG UP THE FLEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very upset with the end result yesterday, we should not be in this position, we are now suffering from our failure to beat Kettering and Leigh and not taking anything from Chester, we should have won yesterday we had the chances as for the 1st Barnet goal, you play to the whistle perhaps if we had done that he would not have scored, another pointless booking for Skins, i afraid Duku was at fault for the 2nd Barnet goal but a very good goal, unfortunatly we now have a mountain to climb, but it is possible but whatever happens i will be there next season as i have for the last forty years i just hope some of the new fans stay, but i know its unlikely, good luck lads.
