Concord 3-2 Eton Manor

3-2...Sounds a thriller!!

Concord worked really hard against a powerful and skillful Manor side.They struggled to get going in the first half,with their wide players ineffective and Manor hitting the post and the cross bar.The best 2 chanches for Concord felt to Beggs(good save from Chopper)and Hawkins that after a good pass from Oggers,was too slow in finishing it.A half-time substitution(tommy lee on for jimmy webb)and a slight tactical switch paid immediate dividends with Big D scoring 2 goals in 10 minutes and Tommy Lee finishing in a opportunist way at the back post after a Healsy shot to make 3-1!Manor brought on Neil Barratt? to tackle Concord tactical plot and after good work from Liam Allen down the left,Anton Stephenson was in the six yds box to convert from close range to make it 3-2!A tense finale but Concord hold on and chances went begging at both ends.The result stood at 3-2 for Concord that edged it thanks to a good second half performance with Onebreast and Big D standing out.They performed like if they were the underdogs and earned the win against a very good individually Eton Manor side.Well done to all and hopefully everybody is available for both sides in the League Cup final so we can watch a even better game.

 

ps:the first half goal from eton manor Liam Allen on 43th minutes was a very good strike even if people will argue about Collier positional play.It was a beauty!

Manor has great individualities and once they sign a left back to give them a bit of flexibility with their system of play,they will have everything to challenge for the title.They are powerful and pacy going forward:Concord for long periods in the first half were in awe of them.Let the Manor boys toughen up and being more tactical aware and they will kick asses next year in the ESL,for sure.

I doubt it coachie...the good players they have will all get poached in the close season....hope I am wrong for manor but its the normal way of things...

Agreed. Bar the crazy 10-15 minutes at the start of the 2nd half, I think Manor could have held on and won it.

Manor are a good side but they are really lacking in the goalkeeping department. They need to improve in this area quickly. A short term improvement would be Smallsy who is clearly better at handling high crosses than Manor's presnet No.1!!

I thought Concord were lucky - Manor were by far the better side throughout the game and CRFC were played off the park for most of it and some of the Rangers players wouldn't even get in my Vets side !! However, a 10 minute 'silly spell' and some good finishing from Healesy proved very costly !!
