More 'good' news. Daggers rest players against Woking...

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Garry Hill is set to rest key players as he keeps his squad fresh for the play-offs.

The Daggers have three games left in the regular season, starting at Woking on Saturday, and with his team already assured of a place in the play-offs, Hill is fine tuning his preparations.

"I think I will certainly experiment a little bit," Hill told this website.

"Some of the lads who have been sitting on the bench will get a run out to boost their match fitness so they are ready if required during the play-offs.

"And by the same token it has been a long hard season and some of the players who have played a lot of games through the season may get a bit of a rest."

irony n. ( usu. humorous or mildly sarcastic) use of words to mean the opposite of what is said; event, situation opposite of that expected.

OED definition.

Really didn't want to respond but felt it a duty to provide guidance and protection to our brethren of Fleet fans.

As James once sang:

A dude after my own heart. Call a spade a shovel & say "show me the irony in that & I'll show you my ass!"

Talking of which, who cares about Dagenham, Chester, Morecambe & Doncaster mollycoddling their overpaid wussy boys & gifting the opposition free points. As long as we kick ass we're ok. Avoiding relegation has to put more fire in your belly than Barnet's weighty concerns re. the LDV Vans Trophy (oh, please, how sad a competition is that?) Farnborough will be a real dog fight, but we ought to get something from it, if we're worthy of survival. If we still need the points, by the time Halifax come, I can't see them having the stomach for the fight we'll give them.

Positive thinking, dudes, it's the only way.

It may not be such a bad thing, The "first choice" players at D&R have nothing to play for, but those that normally sit on the bench will want to show that they should be starting in the play-offs, so it may work in our favour.

I agree with Dave on this point. I am sure there are fringe players at Dagenham who will be looking to see if they can claim a place in the side for the play offs.

I would go as far as saying that there are probably players trying to prove they are worthy of a place in the team for next season, especially if the Daggers win the play offs and make it to the football league. Talking of irony, wouldn't it be justice to see Dagenham go up and replace Boston who are still in relegation trouble.
