Golden Gate Lottery

I recieved a letter from the club today stating that the Golden Gate lottery has folded as of 21 March. What a shame it has served the club well over the years and has probably saved it on a number of occasions. I wonder if the club have another plan to raise money. Even more important is to get people to use the 5 a sides.

MISA are hoping that we can get some of the Golden Gate people to join our 200 club I believe Steve, which in turn will give the club monies too.

It states in the letter that due to the National lotteries mebers have fallen away. Apparently members have dipped so far that there is not enough money coming in to pay for prizes.

With respect I don't really see the need for an announcement on the club website.

Presumably all of those who have subscribed to the lottery have been told in writing, therefore those reading it on the club website for the first time would not have been subscribers anyway. If they were interested they would probably have picked up the details of the lottery and subscribed.

Then either a) they would have been told about it like the subscribers were or B) there would not have been any need to cancel it.

Yes, it's a shame. Got my letter this morning too - I have been paying by Standing Order since I joined so no need for collectors!! Am a little dubious about the bit about National Lottery and scratch cards though. I do them too but like to do my bit for the club.

Perhaps I shall join the 200 club now as I know exactly where the money goes!!!

Likewise with the Standing Order. I would have thought the first thing to have done would have been to have gone to those who take part in the Golden Gate Lottery and ask if they would like to up their stake. I would have happily tripled my contribution if I knew it was to help the club.

There again there has been little feedback from the club since they supposedly went off-line in late November.

Lets hope they have something else planned, if so it would have been sensible for the letter to have provided some info so as to not loose a subscribers interest. It is always easier to retain rather than recruit!!

I for one will join the 200 club now I am not paying towards the lottery. I notice it is £1 per month, would it be worthwhile doing the draw weekly if we could persuade more people to join, as £4 by direct debit is not a lot per month, and same as the lottery.

Perhaps MISA could hand out forms on Saturday to catch any supporters who were in the lottery.

How about a Golden Gate relaunch with half the proceeds going to Thanet Hospice. This way people will also be donating towards a very good local cause and more people should be inclined to join. Also, in the early days at least, there used to be scratchcards available. How about getting these placed in pubs with, once again, half the proceeds going to a particular named local charity? I am sure that there is a possibility in that doing well, as well as giving the club a big publicity boost because of the charity side.

Also, whatever happened to the Golden Goal tickets? Ok, they would never have made much of a return for the club but a lot of little profits certainly help out.
