FA Trophy Final Kit

Recommended Posts

This has just been released on the MYFC website, a special kit by Nike for the final:

Reaching Wembley for the first time in the club's history is an incredible achievement by our players and coaching staff. It's also a mouth-watering prospect for us fans.

Members have pointed out on the forums that the FA Trophy Final is a great opportunity to create extra revenue for the club through merchandise. Thousands of us, from all over the world, will be making the trip to Wembley on May 10. And many will be keen to wear the club’s colours with pride.

EUFC doesn't have a contract with its current kit supplier. For several months now, the Club Shop has struggled to get adequate stock of replica shirts. There is no indication that this situation will change.

In February, members approved Nike's offer to supply kit and merchandise for next season. Two weeks ago, Nike told us that they could provide kit and merchandise for the FA Trophy Final if members so wished.

Nike is offering to produce a commemorative FA Trophy Final shirt for the EUFC players and supporters, as well as other merchandise that can be available for purchase in the run up to the final on May 10. If given the opportunity to provide the team jersey for the final, Nike will also provide the squad with new travel wear including bags for the remainder of the season. The possibility of an FA Trophy Final shirt is something that Liam and the squad have reacted very positively to.

A commemorative EUFC v Torquay United red shirt would have to differ from the one chosen by members in February as next season's kit was selected from a range that is yet to be manufactured. We have pressed Nike on this but unfortunately it's impossible to bring the 2008/09 kit forward. If this offer is approved by the members, we will put an image of the FA Trophy kit on the site as soon as it is available.

Nike providing FA Trophy Final kit and merchandise is something that members will need to approve by vote. An adult FA Trophy Final shirt will cost £40, youth £35 and boys & girls £33. The terms would be the same for the 08/09 season contract (a contract that the Trust Board have full view of). We have been re-assured by Nike that production and despatch will occur in good time for the match if we keep to the voting schedule as proposed.

Before voting, members can take part in the a discussion here and consider any Pros and Cons raised. The vote closes in a weeks’ time, and there is the opportunity to vote ‘Yes’, ‘No’ or ‘Abstain’ here.

(Members of the Trust Board have read this article and their input has been included.)

(The image has blue lines because it is a scan taken from Nike's embroidery machine.)

Also, IF , and I know its a very big if, but 9,000 shirts sold equals £100,000 for the Fleet.

27,000 equals 300,000 quid, after all, they are all Fleet Fans!

Its all a bonus at the end of the day.

Assume then this is the same as but separate to the already agreed deal for next season as it wont be the same shirt.

It will only 'all be a bonus' if those that buy the final shirt also shell out another £40 a few months later for the new season kit, many I suspect will settle for one or the other.

No way of knowing I suppose. Could argue that those who are just interested in the Wembley date get a shirt, and they wouldnt have got one in August ? We cant second guess what people will do. Either way hopefully the clubs funds will benefit.

Have you had a vote as to when the Hospitality Suites are to be put in at Stonebridge Road, Yorkie? If you have all these rich people who can afford two shirts a couple of months apart, they won't want to have to rub shoulders on the terraces with the paupers of Gravesend, Northfleet or Swanscombe!

York Fox is only trying to explain things.. Just as well that the MyFC Board is local, primarily, and that 3 of the faces are well-known. Should help to bring things together???

ps How can somebody from 'upstate New York' criticise people (MyFC members) who are now attending games, and paying for merchandise????????????

And are more local, currently... Wembley issues aside.

Didn't seem to be too many there last night......unless they were well disguised. AFF is an exliled long standing fan & has no doubt spent more than £35 watching the team in past years !

How long have you been a fan then ? Bought the kit yet ? Been to San Stonebridge ?

Cheers,

I'm not going to enter the old-fan-new-fan pissing contest du jour. Just want to clarify what has been unclear about the deal for the Wembley kit. From what I can piece together, the deal isn't a separate one from the new kit deal for next year. All the sales of this special kit count toward the royalties tiers and free kit for the youth teams. So if fans have to choose between this one and next season's because of cost, the club doesn't lose anything in "lost" sales of next year's kit. And some fans will buy both, so it's a net benefit to the club.

I personally am anxious to see what "other merchandise" Nike is making available along with the team shirt.
