Does anybody here remember a Ron Clear? Apparently he used to work for the Fleet and died in recent years and I found out today that we are related. smile I'd love to know more about him and what he did at the club for I don't know anything about him at all.

He did indeed work at the Fleet for many years, taking the money for the stand. he was also very much involved with the Fleet Ladies team.

 

If you send me a PM with your contact details, I will try to pass them on to his son Paul, who I used to play Petanque with.

My red 'gnome' hat I was wearing on Saturday was his. His granddaughter gave it to me as she wanted to pass on his Fleet stuff to people who would use it.

 

Really nice old bloke. Remember standing with him at Dover for one of the Margate matches a few seasons ago.

 

He went to pretty much every match including all of the Fleet ladies ones. Lived and breathed the Fleet.

 

I am really good mates with his granddaughter so can put you in touch with her if you like?

Well, my mother Myra (maiden name 'Clear') is in close contact with his daughter Linda as they have discovered they are cousins or something and has her email so I think I shall email her tonight as ask some more about him.

 

Thanks for the help! It would be nice to meet his granddaughter and Paul at some point if we are somehow related! I'll ask Linda about it. smile
