Nothing should surprise anymore, as KT said, but this has surprised me too. Thanks to Mark and Richard for all their efforts, their commitment was amazing and without some of those results we would have been down already.

Good luck to our new manager.

Being a good old fashioned cynic, did he jump knowing he was about to get pushed, as appears replacement was already and waiting. Might not have been going well, but do we really need a complete new squad yet again. We appear to be going for the world record in number of managers, and players used in a season. Hope Derek can pull it off, but will need great motivational skills or new team, as most are B&B men. Yes he has done rounds of local clubs, and is local man himself, but are his contacts that much better than either B&B or Wilko? Loads of average talent in the area, and loads of clubs all chasing same average guys, always has been and always will be at this low level! Now preparing to be murdered by the rest of you!

What strikes me most is not the speed of the appointment but the fact that it's our first 'external' appointment in absolutely ages. The last five or six managers have all been promoted from within. Hopefully fresh ideas will breathe new life into the team, but with only 8 games left, it's going to be an uphill struggle to say the least!

 

The good thing is that Derek has the whole week to prepare for Burnham and assess his squad, but I just hope that wholesale changes aren't made again, as I just don't think we have the time for that.

Pity B&B could not maintain the form of their trial period as a point a game would have done.

 

Unfortuately allowing Wilko too much time put B&B on the back foot, and this season it needed a bast*rd of a manager like Devonshire or Borg to kick the team into shape to keep us away from relegation.

 

New man starts with a clean sheet and no history so all he needs to do is come up with the goods on the field - so no pressure there then!!!

I leave for America and find out that the gaffer's gone? Oh well, we need 15 points from our last few games to be sure of survival and that's all that needs to be said
