Final points for Slough & Bracknell

Recommended Posts

As it has gone quiet due to yesterdays postponement how about a little competition.

The aim:

To predict the final points tally for Slough and Bracknell along with the goal difference between the 2 teams as a tiebreaker.

Just to make it intresting it will cost £2 to enter and the winner gets half the pot with the other half going to the club!

The current position is Slough 24 points, Bracknell 25 points and a goal difference of +6 to Slough.

I will start the predictions with:

Slough finishing on 32 points

Bracknell finishing on 31 points

And a final goal difference between the teams of +5 to Slough.

Closing date for predictions will be midnight Friday 21st March.

We have been told that we need to get behind the club by being positive and raise funds for its survival.

So when I come out with a positive post saying I think we will be above Bracknell at the end of the season I get shot down.

When I try and raise funds for the club I get shot down.

As of now I will pay my £8 to get in and say we will come somewhere in the top 22 and leave it at that, as anything other than that you start to upset people.

Now now Staines, I'm merely pulling your leg.

But it wouldn't be the first time a money-making idea has been shot down on this forum, would it...

The 500 club is an example of dressing things up - you raise £60 from each member of the 500 club (500x£60=£30,000) then you give half of it back!!!!!

If people can find £60 that they are prepared not to see again you potentially had £30,000 in the clubs money box, however you give half of it back and you end up with £15,000.

Why do people want to "win" something, are they not winning by giving all the money to the club and see it survive?

I'll throw my £2 in Lionel's collection bucket on Saturday shall I wink

If we are talking money and reality - what about looking at next years gate price.

If by some fluke we stay in this leauge with our current average gate of 217 and the cost of running the club at 60-80K a year what will the gate price be?

Well if ALL of those 217 pay the full price then it should be £15 a head for each leauge game - which would bring in £68355 over the 21 games (you have to ignor the cup games as these are not reliable enough to generate income as was seen by us going out of all cups in the first round this season)- however you then have those who want reductions for being old or young or students - however I dont see why they should have any reduction as that is discriminatory aginst those aged 16-65 and we all come to watch the same game of football.

The only way kids for a quid works is if it is your own ground and you get the income from catering as that is where the income from the kids comes from wanting burgers, drinks and sweets - currently Slough get nothing out of kids for a quid yet Beaconsfield's catering are the only ones who make on the deal.

If the club cannot or does not want to raise the gate fee to this level, then it either needs to cut its costs, or continue to go round with the begging bowl!

So are you ready to pay £15 to watch Slough?

Combined Counties £6.00 inc. Programme at Camberley Town, bit harsh on over 65s Staines Rebel on State Pension of about £100.00 a week I am suprised any of them can afford to go.

I think Steve Easterbrook will play a vital part in ensuring that we don't just solely have gate receipts to play with in future. By that I mean his contacts and efforts in securing sponsorship, not dipping into his own pockets!
