I'm going, probably. It's all happening in the middle of a week of 12 hour nights. Get home 9am Saturday morning, bloody knackered. Flop into bed for 3 hours kip. Crawl out, prop open eyes with matchsticks, drive to Alderhot.

Watch Fleet get to final. Hoipefully without extra time or penalties.

Drive home, get changed, go to work fot another 12 hours.

But I'm gonna do it.

Grays got less than 500 last night. Maybe we should blame the chancellor and the dodgy economy.

That said, 2,000+ found £13 on Saturday. I'm not expecting them all to back for a game against Rushden, but I am expecting the thousand that call themselves regular fans to be there after what we achieved on Saturday and the fact we were still chasing a play-off place.

Ah, but you have the advantage over me of posting this morning. I fired off my little rant when I got in last night, with my dooom & gloom frame of mind not helped by there being no taxis available in the whole of Gravesham for an hour. (On a Tuesday? What was all that about?)

In the cold light of day, I agree with you Hirsty & with Hannah's observation about my saying that I couldn't give a sh*t about this coming Saturday. Of course I care about it. Of course I will still be going & forking out for the hotel accommodation to make doubly sure I'm there on time. Even last night I knew I'd feel differently today.

I am not a professional moaner. I have never stood in front of the tea hut. I never shout criticism at matches & I despise people who get on individual players' backs. However, I did fire off my disappointment online, rather than just going off to bed.

Aldershot eased past Histon 3-1 last night. I'd guess, if Saturday's score had been reversed, they'd have struggled last night & we'd have dispatched Rushden without too much trouble.

Interesting that you should say that. York won their midweek match and Torquay lost theirs.

Yeah pathetic pretty much summed up the night. I have to admit I had a rant about the part time fans last night but my step dad tried to justify them not being there last night. Yeah some of them might have valid reasons but surely not all of them. But overall maybe the performance was the lull Aldersh*t into a false sense of security. They will go into the game thinking it was going to be a cake walk again(Mmmm cake *Drroooolllll*). Then they get striked down^^ But who knows^^

I believe that cost, effects the attendance a lot.

If your not a season ticket holder. Two games a week, for some that are on the min wage etc?

I would say find it very hard to find the money. I believe some fans are picking out what they think are the better games to watch, rather than attending every game.

Exactly what Chas Webster alluded to just before the game last night.

2 x £5 petrol = £10

2 x £13 gate = £26

1 x programme =£2.50

2 x 50/50 ticket = £4

without beer and gristleburger still well over £40 in a week.

Bloody expensive hobby.

This week cost will be well in excess of £70 for the 3 games in 8 days.

.....Plus, how many decided that just like Kent Senior Cup matches, that Liam would field a weakened team, before Saturdays game. I understand not wanting to get injured, but seeing the need to win all matches for a chance to reach the playoffs, from the commentary, it seemed as if the players weren't interested last night.

I quote: "When the Man of the Match was chosen because he didn't do anything wrong, that sums up the performance!"

I'm with you on that one Busta. Doesn't need rocket science to appreciate why the attendance was low. Two games a week for fans with family who have to budget. The older generation like myself on a low pension (although I was there last night).Something has to give!

Galeforce winds may have stopped fans from venturing outside. Have they assumed that the match may not have been on due to the weather?

In a way, I'm pleased and disapointed at the same time that the attendance was so low, but had the floating fans seen such an abysmal performance. It would put them off for ever coming to Stonebridge again.

Coincidentally, that game was the last time before last night that we kicked the 'wrong' way (i.e. towards the Plough End) in the first half. So now you know what to blame for last night's defeat, in lieu of the Trophy. wink

You get the impression that people are almost looking for an excuse not to go sometimes. Which is a pity, as mixing going to games like Saturday's with last night's make for a variety of experiences that is all part of the appeal for me.

Last night was probably our worst league performance since Histon at home earlier in the season. But it was only one game. After Saturday our Trophy fate will be resolved - we'll either be in a final after the league season has concluded, or we won't. Hopefully, then, we can concentrate with a renewed focus on picking up as many points in the league as possible and seeing where it leaves us, starting with Histon away on Tuesday.

Surely buying a season ticket would have helped, especially if you had bought it prior to 1 April last year ( if I recall correctly ) it was at the previous season's price. Significant savings, and you get into see the Pre Season Friendlies for nothing. Just a thought.

Cheers,
